There's no guaranteed answer on this. It depends on the situation and the people involved. Most times, No.

I always said if someone cheated on me, I'm out... but here I am, trying to figure out if I want to stay with my bf, who cheated on me, online. I'm not sure if he did in person or not, he says he didn't, so I'm trying to believe that.

I will certainly never forget, and I don't even forgive him. Maybe I will someday, if we make it to someday. I have just tried to set it aside for now I guess, and give him a chance to truly be faithful to me, and to show me that he is. It is really hard for me though. I don't think a day goes by that I don't think about it. We've talked extensively about it, and his reasons for doing all the stuff that he did, and he says it will never happen again... that better be true or he is going to lose the best thing that has ever happened to him...

Depends. I'm not talking the diaper. Can the non cheating party REALLY forgive? (not necessairily forget but allow the issue to not eat them up or be an ever present 'weapon") Can the cheating party isolate the "cause"- do they REALLY know WHY and can they/will they take the steps necessary to prevent it from happening again? Can the parties both work on what will be necessary for them to build trust? Most the time this requres a good "neutral" therapist who will help uncover the "issues" that lead to the cheating. Some of these are "fixable" and some are not. If you run accross the non-fixable one- what are you willing to do? Some people "ego" is just so caught up in the chase game that they will never be trustworthy- sorry but DTMFA.

MY father cheated on my mother after my older sister was born and while they were trying to get pregnant with me. I'm not sure if it all blew up or what exactly happened but what I do know is that they are still together and have been for the past 32 years (my sister is 25 and I'll be 23 in October). They are very happy and affectionate and I'd not even know about this incident if I hadn't been expressly told about it. It seems to me in the long run one instance of cheating really does not matter so if you can get through the initial negative effects of it and if it doesn't happen again then, yes, I'd say a relationship can survive cheating. It just takes work and honesty about everything.

I've been cheated on in all my relationships except this one. Why? Because I refused to give up my virginity! I had sex with my boyfriend (who I'm still with) at age 19 previous relationships I wanted to wait and because I was shy and didn't want to do stuff like oral sex I got cheated on and one friend of an Ex actually bought him a masturbation kit it said on it "because you're not getting any" I wasn't just upset either I was furious and ended up saying to her "just because you spread your legs for anything" which tbh was true. though not an excuse to say it. So No if someone cheats on me they get dumped I hate guys or girls who do things like that I think its just selfish or in my case it was very selfish. My boyfriend now however is everything I could of wanted in a man and we're both happy

            You are right Faye.

We have to understand people and their past, their family, everything before we can look at what they do.

Often "sex" to them is a form of "love", "if only he will love me, I need love, maybe if I sleep with him".

As for being cheated on and can a relationship survive? If two people know each other and discuss the reason behind it and there is a breakdown that both parties are at fault I think so. If it's blatant don't care, do what I want.

No, I doubt it very much in my opinion.

I might forgive but I could never forget and never trust them again. The relationship would be over because how could you trust someone after that? If they'll cheat they'll lie and you'll forever be wondering when they are out of your sight what they are doing. Not a relationship I'd like to be in. This coming from someone married but in an open relationship where we go to swingers clubs. We tell each other ahead of time when we are meeting someone new or planning to have sex with someone else. We never wonder what the other person is doing.

I've never been cheated on but one guy would probably say I cheated on him. I was just in it for a casual relationship and sex while still looking and talking to other guys. He had wedding bells in his head. I told him I refused to be his gf several times and eventually he stopped asking but not because he accepted my answer. He decided to just assume I was his gf. He did a lot of assuming about my thoughts and feelings. Then I spent 3 months telling him not to come to my house without him taking the hint. In the meantime I was meeting up with my now husband and the previous guy was still calling when we began having sex.

A relationship can survive cheating. But one must be willing to forgive and that's a big task
