    Worrying about future wedding...

    I am not new to the forum, but have created a new name so people can't search me! (my previous user name was basically my email address).

    Anyways, here is my issue... My boyfriend and I have been dating for almost 2 years. We are totally in love and don't have any drama or major complications in our relationship. Except for one...I am a born again Christian and he is not. This goes against everything my family and friends believe. They believe Christians need to date Christians and anything outside of that is a sin. I am more liberal when it comes to that belief. He is a better man than any of the other Christian men I have dated. Just because a guy is a Christian doesn't mean he's going to be a great guy. Anyways, my relationshi is not supported by many of my close friends and my family have disowned me.

    I am afraid that when it comes time for us to plan a wedding, it's going to be a lonely affair since my family will refuse to be involved and close friends will not want to participate either since they can't "support" me marrying a non-Christian.

    I love this man with all my heart and he treats me beautifully. He is a man's man and I know a good thing when I have it.

    I am like any other girl/woman who dreams of a beautiful wedding with her mom and best friends helping me in to my wedding gown, dad walking me down the aisle and giving the last blessing before giving me away, etc...

    Unforunately, I don't think I am going to have that. I worry about when the time comes, the people who I love the most will not be there for my day.

    How should I approach this? I can be happy with a small courthouse wedding, but I don't want to wipe out the idea of a traditional wedding that I have always dreamed of.

    Am I just being immature in this desire? I just have this deep feeling that the wedding day is going to be a lonely event.

    Do you have any friends that have stood by you? Make sure you involve them in your plans.

    Is your bf a Christian, not a Christian, but of another religion, a non-practicing Christian, a non-practicing non-Christian, of a different branch of Christianity or a non-believer? Some categories may make future reconciliation possible, but others will make it so your family will probably continue to disown you. Are you strong enough to continue through your future marriage with their continued disapproval?

    It is possible that your bf may change his religion in the future.

    I was raised Methodist, but have been non-practicing my entire adult life. My wife is Buddhist. I did not have or want any involvement from my family in my marriage.
    I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.
    ...
    Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

    From a speech by Patrick Henry on March 23, 1775 at St. John's Church, Richmond, Virginia

      Your Wedding Day is the Day you Chose to Love each other and spend the rest of your lives together.

      The Paper or having others Recognize and Celebrate your Union is Different Day.

      To want and have all of your Loved ones and Family Share and Celebrate your Choice of Each other . Is an Extra " Blessing".

      If you Need to be " Married and have a Big Show of this.. And your Parents or Family Need to Approve of Your Happiness with this person in order for you two to Commit to each other.
      Decide if you NEED Approval of those you love, outside of your Love for each other.

      Just go to the Courthouse or Justice of Peace or Minister. Get it " Official on Paper l" and then have your Honeymoon period, where it is just you and him..

      Throw a Party / Reception later. Invite everyone you want approval from.. Wear that Wedding Gown, Look as happy as you were on your Day of Commitment.

      RENEW those Vows to each other in front of everyone that attends that truly wants.... You Both...
      to be Happy

      Those who want your happiness will attend the Celebration.. Those that do not attend , will just show you who you are loved by and wished well by.

      You both have chosen each other.. As Adults, you should not need any Approval of Anyone other than your two Hearts !!

      Traditionally,
      The Parents of their Girl Child pay for a " Brides" Costs. Maid of Honor, Bridesmaids, flowers ..

      The " Grooms " Family costs are a bit less..

      You will have arguements from both sides of the Families, No matter what you do. In the long run .. Think $$$$$$$

      Can I be happily Married to this person?

      Should I be Dressed to Impress at my wedding ?

      Who needs to Approve of my Choice of a Life Partner ?

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      After answering those questions with yourself and your partner.. Just go Do it.. Or Don't..
      Remember that the $5000.00 - $10.000 ( less or more) ..Could be Spent on your Dreams Together. Build the Future of YOU as a Couple and You as a Family.
      Showing the Love for each other is enough Money and Time spent with each other. And at the end of the " Big Day".. All the clothes fall off, Flowers wilt and the Next thing you know.. it may or not work out with this person.
      Soooooo...
      Next Love of your life is ...
      "Lets get Married " and will my Family approve and Come to my Wedding ??
      I Love You, You Love Me, But ????
      Everyone has to see that we are " Married " on Paper Again ? That is what yearly Celebrations are about . We Celabrate out Birthdays ,Anniversary,
