Planning a wedding on a budget

    Hi Girls,

My fiance and I are currently saving for our wedding. We have both decided that we don't want to spend an obscene amount of money on the ceremony. If anyone else planned a wedding on a cheap budget your ideas will be most welcome. Thanks

I just got engaged on Sunday so I dont know anything at this point. Interested in hearing what people may say. I know one thing that is going to help my fiance and I out greatly is that our church doesn't charge anything for the ceremony. you wouldnt think a church in general wouldn't charge but My best friend found out differently. What kind of wedding are you wanting> church, outdoors etc? My friend is getting married in 2 weeks and saved a ton of money buy making her own flower arrangments with fake flowers. She also bargin shopped for a dress in dress discount stores and walked away with a beautiful dress for less than $150.00. I believe her entire wedding is costing about $500.00. Explain to us what kinds of things you might want.

There are a lot of good suggestions in this thread.

A few of the best weddings I've been to have cost between $500-$1000. Keep it simple and sweet. Don't worry about others and what they'll think, make it about the two of you.

Congratulations on your recent engagement KallyGirlie. We would both like to get married at our local church. I am also intending to make my own invitations etc as this will save a lot of money. As for the wedding itself we will have immediate family and close friends and in the evening we will hire out a hall and mobile disco for the evening ceremony.

Thanks LanaBear, I will check this site out. Totally agree with your comment about not worrying about what others may think, after all it is our special day and not theirs. We both want to have kids soon and they are not cheap. The more money we can save planning the wedding, the better.

I am also engaged and the advice I got is :
              have a samll wedding party
              have a small guest list
              use fake flowers
              rent your dress
