Saint of a Muther vs. "Demon Daughter"

Alright, Im 18 for those who dont know me. I am coming out of my shell, and am having a blast in college. Friends, fun, drama, you name it, I got it. Although, I seem to be "disturbing the peace" at home, specifically with my Saint of a Muther. You know because she's so perfect herself.... According to her, I am "displeasing" the family, or Im "causing chaos." SO I come home, get 92.5% on my midterms, and Im killing you, is that it?

I've been working hard on becoming mentally and emotionally stronger, and dealing with becoming less doormat. I've picked up on some tunes such as: christina aguilera-fighter, or what a girl wants....I could go on. With that being said, my Muther out of the blue, will pull me aside, literally, and say: "theres something wrong with you...you are possessed...you need a doctor." HUH?! WHERE THE HECK did that come from? I mean, are you kidding me? Im growing out of my depression, and trying to reach for the stars, and all you have to say to me is basically 'YOU'RE THE DEVIL?' She constantly gossips to everyone, including my family in frickin LA, how "strange" or "ignorant" I am becoming with her. Uhm...yes Ma, I sit in my room like the chic in the so called scary flim, starring Kevin Costner: "The New Daughter" with a doll rocking back and forth with bulging eyes, going 'roar'. Yep. Thats me alright. SERIOUSLY?! "you need to change" IIIII DO?!!!!! When ever I TRY, and calmly talk to her, you know what she does? oh just guess people, please. She pivots and walks away to the small bathroom and lights her stick of death and starts puffin, like an exhaust system. Thats right. How, "matttuurreeeee" you are. I love her, but honestly, the more she whines and goes on, she's like a flea in my ear, biting it constantly, and leaving the blooooody rantings and ravings behind. Gawd, you dont know how frustrating it is. PLUS she compares me to the girls that smoke up and have sex....LIKE IVE EVER DONE EITHER OF'EM!!!!!!!!

I dont even know if there is a cure for: Tardism. If so, please dont be selfish and share the contact info for that one, please I beg you. If you're experiencing or have experienced something similar or the same, can you PLEASE leave me advice? If you're going to take her side, then dont reply. I already have a Muther, I dont need TWO. =P

You are 18 and an adult, so you have a right to live your life any way you want. OTOH, when you are in someone else's house, (including your mothers) it is good to live by their rules. Where it gets tricky is that if she is paying for your college, she can withdraw that money whenever she wants.

Can you live the way you want, but not make it obvious to your mother?

Any idea why she would say that you are possessed? Is she religious?
You are growing up and that can be hard on parents, letting go to let you grow, isn't easy. But this sounds a bit odd.
How is it that she thinks you are causing chaos?

Manx23, does your mother understand what you are trying to do? That you are trying to become a stronger person? She may be afraid of this new person, because she doesn't understand. Sometimes parents are afraid that if you become stronger you will become a stranger. Have you asked her why she says these things, and I know it's hard, but listen to her answers? My daughter is trying to become her "own person", sometimes it is scary because I don't like the person she is "trying on" but I know she has to do things like this to find out who she is. Could that be the case with your mom? (FYI- my mom acts the way your mom does, with my daughter, she did the same with me. I never explained why I was behaving that way, maybe didn't understand it my self back then, but don't let it stop you from finding yourself)
