weird friend
I have this one girlfriend who I have been friends with for about 13 years. She constantly says and does a whole bunch of crazy and goofy stuff. She also can be rude, really sensitive, and likes to waste a lot of time debating me about useless topics. One crazy thing she said was that she wants her cat to live as long as she does. What an extremely crazy statement because her cat is almost 12 and as you guys already know cats and dogs usually live 15 years so the cat will probably will live only a few more years. She is going to live about 40 more years so what a dumb thing to say. One instance of her being really sensitive was a long time ago out of the blue she asked me who my maid of honor at my wedding will be and who will be the godmother of my baby. This was way before I was thinking about marriage and pregnancy. In response to her question I told her that my older sister will probably be the maid of honor. When she heard that she started bawling and said, "What about me? We're so close we're almost like sisters." One rude thing she did was one year for her birthday I warned her that I really didn't much money to buy her gift so all I could afford was a card. The day after her birthday I asked her whether or not she received the card. She didn't really say yes or no. She just asked when I sent it and never thanked me for it. One useless topic she debated me about was the color of my cat. She debated me for about ten minutes about it. I believe she thinks of herself as a princess because when its her birthday she expects everyone to send a card, a gift, or to call to wish her a happy birthday. When certain people don't call or anything she gets all upset about it. She thinks she knows everything and when people try her different she wont listen. It can't be done. Its like pulling teeth. Crazy! Sometimes this stuff frustrates me so sometimes I think about not talking to her. What do you guys think? -
Sounds like she's showing her age at the moment.
But the things you describe, most people grow out of when they get older. If you like her as a friend then I suggest focusing on the good things rather than the bad. And when she has a hissy fit about something, leave her to it and occupy yourself with something else. No need to get wrapped up in someone else's flaws.

Have you posted about this friend before? This sounds really familiar.
I'd say there's a great deal of immaturity and inexperience her on both your parts. I too would have to agree with Mes that these behaviors are ones most likely to be grown out of. If she's not the type of friend you truly want, find friends that are more compatible with you.Comment

This friend is 28. I left something out when I was typing it. For her birthday I told her ahead of time I probably couldn't afford a gift so all I sent was a card. The day after her birthday when I asked whether or not she received it she didn't yes or no and said, "I guess you couln't afford to get me no gift." Rude. She's a princess because she expects everyone to send her a gift, card, or to at least call for her special day. When certain people don't call she gets all upset and throws a huge fit. She thinks she knows everything and no one can tell her different. She is not grateful for anything and hardly ever says thank you.Comment
