    My ex stood me up

I dated this guy for a year and a half, and we've been apart since May. We were long distance for the majority of our relationship, and broke up over the phone because of the distance and uncertainty stemming from it. His booze hounding friends were also a problem as well. The break up however was a good, as it was mutual and for the best interest of each other. I had just recently posted a thread on how he texted me and broke NC.

Since then I've been feeling lousy and have been thinking of him more than usual. And I gotta admit that I still cared for him. This weekend I had to go to his city for buisness and despite all of my friends recommendations of not seeing him, I texted him in secrecy, to meet up for coffee and he agreed. My friends and family had never liked him, as he lacked ambitions, was selfish, works at a crappy job, and failed school twice! I knew it was a bad idea, but I got too impulsive and in the end burned myself

I went to the proposed meeting site, the train station downtown at 3:30. I sat and waited for him. 3:30 passes, and so did 3:45 and 4:00! I called him a couple of times and texted him once. I waited an hour for him I'm such an idiot and I kinda deserve it almost. He was my first relationship but I was in lalaland that we could be together again. I feel like I got played and it hurts. What a dbag! He didn't even have the decency to text or call me. I gave him all the power! I regret not leaving an f you voicemail. Errgh

Anyways thanks for listening, it's always nice to have opinions outside friends and family.

You mention he was selfish and lacked ambition... that alone could have kept him from showing up on time or at all. That first love clings, but... so do all the others once you let them in. He's your great love right now because you havent experienced another great love since him. But you will... and in time all those feelings whether fuzzy and warm or hurt and p-o'd will fade to a point of nothingness As cliche as it is... it's true. Time heals all wounds. Don't beat yourself up about giving him the opportunity to kick your heart again. You sound like a romantic optimisi and there is nothing wrong with that so long as you take lifes lessons to heart and remember when someone shows you who they are: believe them. Don't doubt it and try to make excuses for it. Take it, and them, for what they are... it'll keep you out of la la land.
Scars remind us of where we've been...they don't have to dictate where we're going.

I'm sorry he did that to you; I know it hurts.
I had an ex that stood me up more than once (he was my first real relationship too)-it took me a while to realize I was not important to him and he had moved on. Not a fun realization, but necessary. Maybe this can be some sort of closure for you.

they are called exes for a reason, sweet. Forget about that one and focus on you. YOU deserve better, you deserve the world. NOT what this tool has to offer. Take a day to completely mourn your loss. Eat ice cream with cookies, chips, chocolate, and then some yogurt to keep you regular :P. And then the next day? focus on you. Nobody else. just you. He isnt worth it.

...but you are. keep your chin up sweet pea!

Well on a positive swing of things...maybe he did you a favor? At least you didn't see him again and have to have all those feelings really come back full force only for him to potentially drag it out and really break your heart again.

I know it sucks, but don't let him get to you. Better things lie ahead
