    Relationship Turmoil

I have been in a relationship with a guy for nearly 4 months. At first, things were going very well. Our friends gushed about how they envied our relationship and we were so compatible. As time went on, my insecurities (which stemmed from a terrible past relationship) began getting in the way. First it was freaking out about a girl (friend) texting him. Although I knew he'd been interested in the past, I had no reason to suspect that he was doing anything behind my back. The problem was, I'd been with a guy who cheated, manipulated, and lied. But even though I knew this didn't justify me taking it out on my current boyfriend, I had trouble holding back. He handled this very well and even apologized more than he ought to have.

But ever since, my insecurities and "neediness" have only gotten worse. At times I'll feel like the "chill girlfriend" who gets along with everyone and doesn't overreact. However, lately, I've felt like a crazy person, particularly when drinking. Starting irrational arguments and threatening to break up over a lack in attention (compared to the beginning of the relationship - which happens of course). It's really starting to break him down and I know I need to control myself and my emotions, but I just can't seem to.

That right there was in neon when I read it. You noted the drinking, so stop it. If you still feel "like a crazy person", I suggest a doctor's visit. Lots of people encounter chemical imbalances and can easily be treated. A woman's hormone levels can get messed up and this can cause erratic behavior. There is also the possibility of pregnancy, but you had never stated if you are sexually active. But this can still be covered by a doctor's visit. You are seeing damage being done to your relationship, mistreatment to your boyfriend and you are seeking help. So for that I say you are on the right track. Just please do seek the proper help so you can continue on happy and not lose out on anything good for you.

Don't let your ex win by destroying your present relationship. A psychologist may be able to help you control your passive aggressive behavior.
I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.

Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?
