Burnraiser, I wish I could tell you that we can change people, but we can't.

More than likely she has seen the passing of her grandparents and the knowledge of their problems prior to, figgers she will get it anyway so who cares.

If she doesn't do things you enjoy? If they are things you enjoy and you are not happy, then move on.

As much as we love people, we can not change them.

I wish there was something else I could think of that may help but she needs to see someone to believe in herself again, to realise that you are part of her life as well and therefore it is not all about her, that you love her it is not all about her.

It's not about weight rather love.

    Perhaps show her this thread.

I understand your concern and frustration. I cooked healthy meals in my marriage, my ex husband would skip it, drive to the gas station for Doritoes and Soda...his brother had his first heart attack at 42...was dead at 54. Didn't inspire my husband to make better choices.
Sometimes people just cannot face their fears, if that's what it is, and have the courage to make changes.
Sometimes it's laziness. Could be Depression. Sounds like low self esteem is a factor.
There could be a lot of reasons she makes the choices she does, but they're her choices to make. You can potentially get her to consider that she may be affected by depression or grief, which in turn, affects her decision making...but that's still for her to do.
If she isn't willing to make herself healthier, there's nothing you can do.
I have to agree with CW also. It may be time to move on.

maybe you just have to look for a nutritionist that can help her explain why she had to change her eating habit...encourage her also to have an exercise after work...
