How to confront someone who is leaving you out

I have been friends with this girl for about six years now we met when we used to work together there is a bout four years of an age difference between us (her being younger) she's 23 I'm 27.

We used to be really close and do a lot things together and I noticed in recent years I have been feeling left out because she does have a lot friends and parties a lot. Whenever I ask her to go out she never has the money/cancels or is always late but as I can see on Facebook she parties/goes on vacation with university friends and friends who are much older (20+ years).

I find she only contacts me as a plan b and barely ever does I'm always the one making first contact. For example: she'll text me nobody wants to do anything, what are you up to?

I'm afraid if I confront her I'll lose her friendship I don't really feel like we are 'close friends' anymore and don't know how I should go about things or if i should just leave them be and move on.

This is such a sucky situation. Dwindling friendships are always hard when you're the one being left behind. I'd say it's time to move on, spending your emotions on this person is obviously not getting you the return that you want, need or deserve. Time to reach out to other friends and/or make some new ones.

I agree with Trix. It doesn't have to be dramatic tho, with regular friends you don't really owe formal breakup ceremonies lol. Just sort of drift off. Sounds like you'd be doing both of you a favor really, as you're not really friends.

Thank you to both for replying.

This was my gut feeling but I just wanted someone's opinion. Greatly appreciated.

I also agree with Trix and Jen. Move on to new friends, this girl is taking up too much of your energy and you are worth more.
