They say the first year of being married is the hardest. It may be similar with living together. You are getting to know each other's little not so sexy habits. You suddenly realize that you are headed towards marriage/forever. Everything is an "us" versus "me". You lose some of your identity as an individual. Now, friends always invite both of you to parties. Your single guy friends don't ask to just hang out as often. All this can be very frustrating unless that is really what you want.
Many people move in together because they are tired of doing the single guy/gal stuff. They want to be an "us." However, if you don't want that, it can be difficult on the relationship. The type of lack of desire you describe is usually seeded in other non sexual issues. Communicating with your partner is very important and letting them know what you want from the relationship. Another thing (and many people don't think about this) is maintaining your social life similar to before moving in together. Just because the guys call you less to hang out, doesn't mean you have to call them less. Make it clear that you don't always have to be a couple and sometime (and maybe lots of times) you just want to be with your friends by yourself. Keep a nice balance of together time and away time.Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose - Kris Kristofferson and Fred Foster (sung by Janis Joplin)Comment
