Doomed because we met too soon??

My boyfriend and i are together just short of three years now and have been living together for a year and a half. We have a lovely apartment we work hard to pay for, and puppy for the past 9 months. I love him and am happy with how things are going, but lately ive began to feel slightly panicked that we've met when we were both too young. I look around at all the relationships and marraiges of couples who get together in their late teens early twenties and they seem to be ending. Im 23, hes 22. I cant see myself with anyone else, and i know he feels the same. He really has become my best friend at this stage and the thought of it all going wrong simply because we're too young to last the distance scares the hell out of me. I dont know i was hoping some of you might be in a relationship that began at a young age, that has lasted the distance? Or know of ways to ensure mine can work long term

Relax. Don't LOOK for a reason for it to not work out, just enjoy the fact that you both care about each other and that you are happy together. Don't over analyze it or you'll find a reason to sabotage it.

i started dating my husband when i was 18. we have now been together for 7 years, married for three months! i agree that you shouldn't be looking for reasons why your relationship won't last and make it last...kwim?

there were times that i thought i would leave, and yes i was nervous about going from my parent's house to my boyfriend's house but when you really know each other and have a good relationship i think it'll only get better.

Your not the only one. Although I am younger than you we still share the same thoughts. Whenever I doubt whether or not my relationship will last, just because we found one another young, I think about how much he loves me and how much I love him. No matter what may happen to us in the future, I'm glad to have him now.

I am 20 years old, my boyfriend is 21, and we've been together for about 21 months, or two years this coming April. We both want to get married soon, and get married to eachother. In fact, I'm excited to start having kids in the next five years. But I'm scared to death! Not only is this the first long term relationship I've been in, but we are young, very young. Then I realize it's just a number. We've both had jobs since we were 15 years old, we have steady CAREERS not just jobs, and have no trouble with money. He asked one day if I was scared to marry him, and I replied that I wasn't scared to marry him, just to get married when I'm 20. I realized that love takes a lot of courage. And I know I'm finally ready to take that big leap. You'll know too.

My advice is be careful who you are hanging around and if they are negative especially if they are just out of a relationship. I found that when I had friends that always complained about their SO everytime they were with me I started noticing the little annoying things my hubby would do and then I would start thinking, yeah he's kind of thoughtless in that area too.... Once I realized that was what was triggering it, I could be true to myself and remember that it's their troubles not mine, I don't mind those little things, he loves me I love him, and nobody is perfect.

Remember this don't worry over the little things, don't fight about the tedious stuff. "you know the station on the radio or the temperature thermostat, he won't pick up his socks... ect." Save it for the big stuff...when it comes along.

Dont know if i can give the advice you are looking for but i too am goin throught he same thing i met my boyfriend when i was 17 i am now 22 and he is 27 we have been living together for about 2 1/2 years. I am so scared that i am ganna be 30-40 years old wishing i would have lived my life to the fullest and not settled so quick. I love him sooo much hes wonderfull but I have this thought in the back of my mind " what if hes not the one" i was so young and have yet to experiance a lot of things and im worried i never will. Its so hard to see myself with out him though.
I say if you love him and you know In your heart that hes the one and only then liston to your heart. Even if things don't work its a wonderfull experiance and hopefully he will always be apart of your life. It does seem like you are looking for a reason for it not to work enjoy it while its there.

There are loads of people who have met their spouses at a "young" age and are still married to them!

I know a couple who told me & my hubby that they were in their late teens, dated for about 4 months then got married.
They have been married over 50 years!!!

Me & my hubby have been married almost 18 years (this summer). We were in our 20s when we married....

My advice to you is to just take every day and everthing one step at a time! Deal with each situation as it presents itself, and don't get yourself in a tizzy about things that haven't happened or aren't even in existence.
Don't worry about if you'll be together because this person has "quirks" with their S/O and it annoys them and then they break up! As one poster already mentioned, that's not YOUR situation!

You can always plan for your future, but don't look down the road and say things like you're afraid you 2 won't be together because you married at a "young" age?
My grandparents married in their early 20s and stayed married until they both passed away... they were married for 60 years.

Remember: one step at a time.

I am having a similar problem... looking ahead in the future and predicting what could happen to my relationship with my man. A good friend once told me that if I think negative, the nagative will happen because you will self consciously make a good situation into a bad one because you have already decided it that way. You can reverse this by starting to think more possitively about the situation. This is called the self fufilling prophicy.

I agree with one of the other posters that you should listen to your heart. If you love him, he treats you right, motivates you and supports you, then just stick with it, stay with him and love him for the rest of your life. Marriage can be a scary thing, but if you both believe in eachother and love eachother, that's all that matters and like the saying goes, "love conquers all!"

Just stay positive sweetheart, things always turn out for the best in the end. I am sure the two of you will be able to make it.

Wow....that is scary....You met at 19 and 20.....That is really young for what you are asking out of life.....To stay together and love each other for the rest of your life....Now that is really big....

BUT if this is true where am I?....We met at 19 and 20 and have been going hot and strong for, let me see, (lean forward and I will whisper it) going on 52 years and will be married at the end of this year 50 of them.....What if we would have been scared and ran away from each other.....Sorry honey, I just couldn't do it.....Just love him to death and never ever forget these wonderful moments in your life. Bring them forward as you age. Never forget what a wonderful man he is and tell him it real often......As he ages, look at him like yesterday.....Never let him age in your mind......Just may have the time of your life.....I wish you well....Take care, Caroline

Edit: And may I add from the time I met him and the interval before we were married, seeing he was in the service, I saw him only 47 days of my life.......Out of 700 days that is all I saw him and I just adored him.....He is my sailor.....
