I'm an alcoholic, dry and sober over 5 years. My BF doesn't drink (just hates the taste).

I turned into a nightmare when I drank, dangerous for me as far as men and thank God I was never robbed, raped, and made it without any sex disease.
We can go into a club and drink soda and I'm fine. But I still hit the occassional AA meeting to keep myself in line even though no temptation comes over me.

The mother of my BF is a 50 year alcoholic, she'll obviously never quit. And what she turns into is nothing her children can handle.

But I'm afraid the truth is people who don't want to be helped can't be. You have to know you have a problem and want to fix it. If I got tempted, I have a support system. And the knowledge I'd probably lose my man and that I won't let happen from being stupid or weak. I have a life now, not a nightmare.

      drinking issue

It is really really hard to admit that your spouse has a drinking problem. When all is good it is good. I find myself watching the amount of wine he drinks and panic if it goes over a certain amount. That is crazy huh! Never had to deal with this in my life. My Ex smoked pot and was a harmeless couch potato but this is in your face anger and it is scary. On Christmas Eve I was relaxing trying to find a Holiday movie on TV and he says lets watch Cold Case which we record and we checked and somehow it never got recorded. And he started in by saying that his stuff never gets recorded blah blah and I always get everything I want blah blah and of course I get angry and start to yell back but it gets worse and all of a sudden my son is an A++hole and all breaks lose. I mean he looks like a pitbull with fangs when he yells, where the does that come from ? I have a hard time handling this. He basically ruined my Xmas eve. It is like he isnt the same person. SCARY ! I tell him to stop and that doesnt work. The next day he always apologises of course. I get the works flowers etc. He has started to drink coffee as I told him that I am not going to put up with it anymore. But I still get that nagging feeling like it is going to happen again and what do I do. Hope it doesnt. Leave him if it does. I have to walk on eggshells all the time. That is not what I wanted. What if he does change. I dont want to have wasted the last 2 yrs of my life. But when he is sobeer he is the nicest man, he really is, just what I want .What do I do?
