I'm not understanding what it is you want, or why.
It's his apartment, even if you got him arrested you could not continue living there. I manage properties and if you aren't on the lease, you don't legally live there.
If you can afford half the expenses there, then you can afford half the expenses someplace else.
Since it is his place and not yours you have no business writing rules or trying to enforce your way of doing things.
He is your ex finacee and it is time to let go and move on.

I am a GUY and you should take that into account when looking at what I say- THIS IS FROM A GUY's Perspective. You are not on the lease. You have no legal rights on the apartment. You are looking to have him "go crazy so i can call the police on him and kick him out". Keep pushing his "oh so easy" buttons and you probably can push him into some stupid action that will allow you to "play the victim". And you can give him a criminal record that will seriously affect his future; but hey, you will (maybe) get the apartment and that means 'YOU WIN".
BRI_a5001 is this REALLY how you want to live your life? Is this who you really want to be? I understand wanting to have life your own way...but how do you get there?
Do you want to look around the apartment and know that you got it by manipulating another human being?
Rethink...this isn't about him...it's about what kind of person YOU wish to be.

Speaking from a legal standpoint, as a property manager, several things would happen with your scenario; unless you live in a real dive, domestic violence is an evictable event. If the cops are called and an arrest made, I'd be taking a good look at the situation. If the cops are called repeatedly, that is disturbing the peace of the property and I'll evict, same goes for any repeated disturbance.

Once the leaseholder is gone - regardless of reason, no one, not on the lease, would be permitted to remain on the property. I'd have you out of there, post haste because I haven't background checked you or credit checked you and you have no legal businsess there, at all. If you had been part of any disturbance or disruptions I'd be fairly ruthless with it. If need be I'd evict you and have a arrest if you didn't go and it would go on your credit record and unlike bad debt, evictions don't drop off, it would follow you for a long time.

You need to let go, pack your bags and move on.

Depending on some "legal particulars" where you live and the lease in this particular instance; and the property manager, you may or may not end up with the apartment. I am confident WC's evaluation is realistically based on her practical experience. Mine is based on my experience with lots of DV cases. We my not exactly agree on what the end result would be but we certainly agree on what YOU should do. "You need to let go, pack your bags and move on".

Every state has their own laws and leases can vary widely. We do not permit sub-leasing or allow anyone not on the lease to stay on the property more than 10 days without written permission. You can get into iffy legal ground if you have a policy (as most reputable places do) of doing background checks but allow tenants to just move random people in. If there is any trouble, things could get complicated, Personally I prefer manage properties rather than crisis'.
