He may very well have cheated, but felt bad, still loved his wife, but couldn't live together, things missing, he may very well have cried from reality of losing her and he may very well not want to go back for reasons we don't know and therefore, has continued this as what else can he do, it's done....

You don't know if he speaks the truth, she could have been a different person behind closed doors, I can tell you my ex-husband was, he was perfect in front of everyone, only my family saw through him, no one else did....
