Getting married
Can someone tell Me if I have to just stay with it. I am planning to get married and my fiancé does not want to tell his family about it. The marriage is going to be the courthouse is it not important for them to know?Last edited by osiadhis; 10-03-2010, 02:47 AM. -
Amoung other things, marriage is a public acknowledgement of the union of two people. It's hard to see how you could do that and not tell his family. Have you met them? What happens when/if you have children? Is he hiding his relationship with you? Why would he not want to tell his folks??
Yes, it's important for family to know. I think you guys have lots to talk about before you can even consider getting married.

I did not inform my father that I was getting married. I did tell my mother just before leaving. I married across racial lines and I didn't want any interference. I was sure of my decision. My parents would not have gone to the marriage ceremony, anyhow, it was more than 8,500 miles away. I have never regretted that decision. My wife and I have been married for twenty years, now. There are no problems with family.I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.

Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?
