I just learned that my ex was a Narcissist...

After going to a family therapist, individually, I learned that my ex not only had "control issues" that I was only too familiar with....I found out that he has Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

Although I shouldn't be surprised - I really am. I didn't realize how bad it was until I got out of the marriage. I'm left wondering how I didn't see this coming? How cold I have possibly lived with this man for so many years and not know that he had a very serious problem? I guess the answer is because I was so sure that I was the one that had "issues". He would often let me know that I was the one with the problem and unfortunately for a long time, I believed him.

So ladies, if you are in a situation where your relationship is unfulfilling and you are not sure that you are married to the man you thought you were married to, don't assume it's YOU with the problem. Seek some therapy and find out if you are living with someone who has serious issues besides yourself!

Now I have to figure out how I am going to co-parent with this person to raise our two teens. The good news is, the therapist told me now that I'm free of him, I will be happier than I have been for many, many years. I believe it because I already feel it.

Been there, but didn't have children with him. They aren't much fun. If you can play to the desire to be seen as exceptional and special and a really good guy, he might be Ok with the kids.
    How old are they?

      Proud of you.

The murderer in the trial I was a juror on had NPD.
