I have been on Nuva ring a month and now that i am in my week "off" i havent recieved my cycle. I was just wondering if anyone else had a really late cycle when they started this or if i should just got and get an e.p.t. I have a child already and at the moment we cant afford another....we were very careful and followed all the directions. thankyou

Any form of birth control can cause your cycle to be irregular at any time. It can take some time for your cycle to become normal. Stress and other environmental factors can also cause your cycles to be irregular and may not have anything to do with your birth control.

If you are concerned that you may be pregnant, get some preg tests from the grocery store to be sure.

I have been on the ring for about a year. And lets say I take it out on a monday, well sometimes I don't get it until friday. It is due to stress and different things. I would say as long as you get it at some point before your week is up, you are fine. But if you miss your period all together before putting in the next ring, go get a p.g. test right away. I sometimes wonder myself, but I always have gotten my period during the week off.

I was on the nuva ring for about 2 1/2 years,I never got a period .I told my doctor and they told me that the birth control was working well and not to worry about it.So I love it no periods.

I noticed that if i take my ring out on friday i dont get my period until wed sometimes thur and only for 1 day.....but i love this form of bc.

not really a reply, but another concern

I just started the Nuva Ring a little over a week ago. And now I may have a yeast infection, I used to be on Ortho tri and never had this problem, the only times I have gotten yeast infections is during my pregnancy. So my question is do i take the ring out and treat the yeast infection? or leave it in? also is the ring causing the infection?

NuvaRing & Yeast

NuvaRing actually increases healthy bacteria which usually helps to prevents yeast, therefore chances are slim that you have yeast. NuvaRing does increase healthy vaginal discharge so you could possibly be mistakening the discharge for yeast. Yeast medications should not interfer with NuvaRing so if you do use an over the counter yeast med; you should not take NuvaRing out.

Nuva Ring

I started the ring about 3 weeks ago. I put it in the 1st day of my cycle....it is now 3 wks later and I am still bleeding so I am not sure it is working for me. I will give it one more month. Sandi

Regarding yeast infections

I just read on the Nuva Ring website FAQ that use of miconazole to treat yeast infections can increase the amount of hormone released by the Nuva Ring into the bloodstream, which can apparantly affect its usefulness as a method of birth control. It's not an issue for me, since I am on the ring to regulate hormones and for migraines, but I was debating about whether or not I should take the ring out while on the miconazole or leave it in. Since I have been on the ring, I have noticed increased discharge which at times has become uncomfortable, but this is the first yeast infection I've had and it could just be because of the incredibly hot temperatures here in the South (and pretty much everywhere)...anyhow, thought the info might be helpful.

Nuvaring

I was on the Nuvaring for about 6 months and had lots of problems with it that I didn't even realize were related until I decided to go off it and the symptoms went away. In reference to the question above, it usually took almost a week before I started my period.
