    Help!!!

My daughter just had a baby...and we have been talking about what kind of birth controll would be best for her.....We both worry that she wont take the pill like she is supose to....(lame i know)....(didnt before)

Everything Ive read on here seems to be pretty negative...so im curious about alternative methods of birthcontroll besides the pill....

Does anyone on here have any posatives...for something besides the pill..
I am a man ...(her mother isnt in the picture) so this is a lil confusing to me....

    Thanks for the help

condoms are a must. thats as in used together with another form of birth control. the pill doesnt prevent stds' nor does the iud,the shot, the sponge, jumping up and down after sex...you get the picture... CONDOMS!
in the news just yesterday a lady with herpes kissed her newborn and killed it.

        Alternatives to the pill...

I myself am in pretty much the same boat as your daughter. And not too much older either. I was on the pill just after I had my 2 yr old and couldn't be relied on to take it on time.So last week at my 6 week check up after my son I discussed my issue with my O.B. he suggested Nuva Ring. It is a hormonal BC just like the pill and according to my doc if your body takes to the pill you shouldn't have a problem with it. I have read on here that it can cause stroke, but when I asked my doc he said that it's a possibility with any hormonal BC whether is be the pill the patch or the ring..(scary but true)
I've heard nothing but horror stories about the IUD. My OB said that in his experience he's seen the strings come unattached and that many womens bodies reject them.
There is a site that compares different methods of BC too. Its called mybirthcontrol.
Good Luck to her and you. And congrats on becoming a grandpa!

An IUD may be a good option for her. I have heard nothing but complaints about the ones with hormones but I did really well with a plain old fashioned one and so have several of my gfs. You go to Planned Parenthood, they slip a bit of bark into the cervix, it absorbes some of her natural fluids and swells a bit, you go back the next day, they slip that out and the cervix is open just enough to put in the IUD. They pop it in and it's all done. She needs to check the string once in a while to be certain it's still there, it can stay in for 10 years, if she wants. Having it removed is about a 5 min process. No muss, no fuss, no goop or pills or any thing to remenber.

Of course like any BC, she still needs to practice safe sex.

Diaphrams work well but you have to actually use it and that requires planning ahead. Not always a young person's strong suite.

If she is breastfeeding the pill is a bad idea. Don't need those extra hormones going to the baby.
