    Questions on different pills;

    I'm wondering if it's all birth control pills that make you gain 10-15 lbs.. or if there's options where the pill does not cause weight gain.

    A doctor once told a friend of mine: "Birth control pills don't make you gain weight ... they just make you hungry."
    Different women will react differently to pills containing different hormones. While some women adore Yaz or Ortho Tri Cyclen, others will curse the names. Personally, I'm on Ortho and didn't have weight gain, but many will. The best thing to do is to talk to your doctor about it; they'll usually give free samples when you're trying out new BCs

      My other question is if it's possible to get pregnant if the condom didn't break

      I'm not at risk to this, I'm just curious.

        In my experience, I have had slightly stronger cravings while on the pill than I would from normal PMS - however, any cramps or discomfort associated with heavy periods were eliminated, so that was a big plus for me. I just try to keep track of my cycle, and if I know it's the week before I'm getting my period and I have a really strong craving for 2 lbs of french fries smothered in cheese, I tell myself it's just the pills and try to ignore it or eat something healthy instead. Usually I get cravings for sweet things, so I just eat fruit or drink a diet soda. It always passes

        I haven't gained any weight, but if you get cravings and don't keep them in check, you probably will gain weight. Like Little said, every woman's body responds differently to the hormones, so you might not even get cravings.

        Drinking plenty of water will also help you avoid weight gain due to water retention (and its something we should all do regardless of whether or not we're on the pill).

          It is possible, but unlikely to get pregnant if a condom remains intact. The risk can be reduced by using condoms that come with a spermicidal lubricant (although some women react badly to the spermicidal chemical). When used correctly a condom is about 97% effective at preventing pregnancy - this means that it was put on correctly and stayed on throughout intercourse, and that the male partner pulled out after reaching orgasm, removed the condom and did not have any further sexual contact with the female partner. There is always a risk involved with any kind of birth control and always a percentage failure rate, albeit a small one. If you have sex in any situation using any kind of birth control, it is possible for you to become pregnant - using BC just greatly reduces the odds.

            Most birthcontrols list weight gain as a possible side effect. Some people will get that side effect , some wont , and every few in a bunch will get a really bad side effect.
            You should really just discuss it with your doctor and talk it out. If you are going to a health department/clinic , consider trying to get a full time gyno , as those at clinics are usually rushed and over booked. Also , weight gain shouldnt be a reason to deter you from trying birthcontrol , you just need to find the one right for you ... so tame the cravings , go to the gym or try something new.
