In my life (im 17) i've been on three different kinds of birth control pills and each one has caused me to throw up. Now, of course, there's always the possibility that I just caught a stomach bug that caused that but it's just very ironic. So, I talked to an OBGYN for the first time the other day and she said "You should try a method that doesn't need to be digested" so she gave me two options: Nuvaring(sp?) and the Depo shot. I thought about it and decided on the shot because it seems so much easier then the ring.

I made the mistake of reading about it and I saw all the horrible things that can happen to you. I was wondering if anyone had the Depo shot and had positive results. Whenever you read about medicine you always get the bad never the success stories and I know there's gotta be someone out there that didn't have any major problems while on the shot?

If you had a bad experience with it you can post it but I'm really hoping that someone will say they were fine. lol. I need some peace of mind because I get my first one monday and I'm freaking out, expecting to get fat and depressed with a whole bunch of decaying bones inside of me. =(

Everyone is different on the depo. With me I lost weight. Apparently i was the only one that my doctors knew that lost weight on it because they say it causes weight gain.
The good: no periods as long as you are on schedule with the shots. If you miss it be expectant to have them soon. (With me which we haven't figured out if it's the cause of the depo or something else last time i got off of it without a backup method i had a period of almost 6 months...straight.)
Very little chance of getting pregnate. Just make sure you wait the recommeneded days to have sex after starting it.
Just the shot. no pills or anything.
I think that and no periods are the best thing of it.

Here are some tips.
At EVERY shot app. ask for a pregancy test! My doctors office thinks there is no way in that you can get pregnate off of it so they would just try and give me the shot without one. I know someone that got pregante while on the depo.
You can have a miscarriage if you end up pregnate on it and then go in for a shot.
It takes a few months for the depo to get out of your system make sure you get bc pills (so you don't have excesive periods) or use condoms when getting off of it.

Some people get:
Cysts while on it. (i have and heard of others that have too)
Mood swings (but better on this than any other bc)
You can loose bone density.

Like I said it can affect different people in different ways. I got off of it because i'm having problems which i have a feeling is related to this.

DO follow this advice. My beautiful curly-headed blue-eyed side effect just turned nine years old!

oh wow ok. did they say how you got pregnant while on it? (sry to be asking another question) like was it because you were taking antibiotics or like it just failed? lol
