Weight gain or trouble losing weight on YAZ?

Hi everyone. I have been on YAZ for about two and a half years now. I've had alot of problems with birth control over the years and this is the only pill (I've tried about 6 of them!!) that I have had any luck on. It does not make me sick, my cycles are short and pretty regular and it helps with my PMDD.

Here is my problem: the weight gain!!! That and the inability to lose weight. With the diet I have been on and how much I exercise - I should be losing weight. I do not eat fast food. I love fruits and vegetables. Grains are awesome too. Recently, I have been following the 'flat belly diet'. But if I have one bad night (as far as the volume of food or type of it) it is so very easy for me to gain weight. Then once I gain it, I simply cannot get rid of it.

Is anyone else having this problem? It's very frustrating!!!

    Thanks!

All birth control pills can cause weight gain. Although oddly while I was on yasmin (higher dose version of yaz) I was slightly underweight and when I went off it I gained 50lbs. Everyone reacts differently to pills and to different pills. You could try something else if you want. There are still more pills out there, the shot, and nuvarings, but while it could be perfect it could also cause some other worse side effect. It's a risk with taking any hormones whether it's birth control or as treatment for a disorder.

I have taken yasmin for the last four years after trying many other pills which didnt suit me (microginal, femodene, something beginning with d) i didn't have trouble gaining weight, but i did become pregnant (my daughter is 21 months now) while takinging it and no i was not ill,on anti biotic, and i ALWAYS took it every day, at the same time. That being said, ive been taking it the last six months, no problems.

I don't know if any of you have seen the commercials, but Yas and Yasmin are causing severe medical issues for women and I think a class action lawsuit is pending...

I think one got passed years ago over yasmin. They at least were in big trouble and it prompted the making of yaz with a lower level of the hormone. I don't really care. Out of all the pills I swallow every night birth control is probably the least dangerous thing I'm on. If it's slightly more dangerous than another form it's still far less than most things doctors prescribe all the time. I'm glad I took yasmin rather than one or 2 of the extreme acne medications in existence when I was in highschool. I'd also rather take it than most antidepressants for things like PMDD. SSRIs (the other most likely treatment for pmdd) are the most evil thing I've ever been prescribed. Luckily I never got to MAOIs before they realized I just wasn't sleeping.

I've taken both Yaz and Yasmin, and for all the side effects I had from both, I never gained weight while on them. I never had trouble losing weight, either. When my ob/gyn started me on Yasmin (I took it first, the Yaz after), she told me that Yasmin wouldn't cause weight gain/water retention. Turns out, she was right. That, plus the fact that my skin was flawless while taking Yasmin/Yaz, are the only advantages that I noticed while taking these pills.

              Yaz

              Hi

I have been taking Yaz for almost a year now. I have a condition called Endometriosis and it has been working wonders with the Yaz, only major side effect is the weight gain which i cannot handle anymore, As from today i have decided to stop the Yaz. Will consult my Gynae for an alternate option.
