    Paragard Removal = Normal Period?

Hello, all... I had a Paragard IUD for about a year and a half with no major symptoms, until about six months ago when my periods started being about 10 -12 days long. They started slowly with "old blood" for about three to four days, then heavy for about five, then tapering (finally) to nothing. All very unusual for me, so I went to the doctor and had an ultrasound to be sure that there were no cysts, etc. Everything checked out. They told me that even though things were normal with the IUD for 18 months, it's normal to start having longer periods even after time.

So, I had it removed a couple of months ago. I was hoping this would lead to normal periods I'm continuing to have 12-14 day periods. I just wondered if anyone had this experience and how long it takes for things to normalize. Any responses would be much appreciated. BTW, I called the Dr. and spoke with a nurse, who of COURSE said "Give it a few months."

Hope to get a response. Thanks

Just curious, was this the only reason you had it removed (longer periods). I too have a ParaGuard. I'm having the same scenerio. I get old blood first, then moderate bleeding for a couple of days, then it tapers out to nothing. I love my ParaGaurd. I can totally live with this cycle of bleeding. I have not encountered any problems yet with it (knock on wood). 10yrs of birth control and not having to deal with taking the pill and having to bleed for a few days. .. . . . . . .yeah I'll take it.

Yes, the 10-day to 2-week periods were just too much for me. That's the only real reason I had it removed. Hope you have better luck than I did. Thanks for replying.
