    Contraception problems

For the past couple of years I've been on and off pills as I've had problems with every one I've been on. I was wondering if anyone knew of any which had less of an impact on mood swings? Like ones that are low in certain hormones or anything?

I was on dianette for my skin and it did nothing so I gave up after 6 months.
I then moved to Microgynon and it left me so intensely itchy I couldn't stick it out more than a few days.

I then had a break for 3 months to let myself settle down. I wasn't seeing my boyfriend much at the time so I was happy to just use condoms if and when.

I then went on Femodene and was on that with relatively few problems for about 10 months, but I then broke up with my boyfriend and stopped taking them.

Now I have a new boyfriend and I tried going back on Femodene and it turned me into an emotional wreck - I was in floods of tears because my room was untidy, and then because I missed my train (my boyfriend thought I'd completely lost it...) So I went back to the doctor and he suggested I tried something like a diaphragm. But I'm quite a worrier and I don't think that's going to be effective enough, as I see my boyfriend a lot and it may end up a bit of a faff. So I'm now considering going back on the pill yet again but I can't put up with the mood swings, and neither can my boyfriend!

    Thanks for any help

I've only been on the pill for about 3 months now, I haven't had any side effects luckily. And from what I've read not many people have problems with this kind of birth control, its called Tri-Cyclen Lo, ask your doc about it

You can try a low-dose pill but from what I've experienced, and from what my doctor has told me is that if you experience those side effects on a hormone based BC, it won't really matter which one you are on.
Talk to your doctor about non-hormone BC like the diaphram, IUD, etc.

Thanks for that list - it's fantastic. I think I'll take it with me to the GP next time I go.

I went back the other day trying to change the one I am on, and she refused to do anything about it. She said that every pill would have the same effects and there was nothing I can do. I've done enough internet research to know that they're all slightly different and switching pill can make the difference!
