I was on Yaz for a few months and started not having my period. I stopped taking Yaz completely and still didn't have my period for 2 months. I went to the doctor and she gave me progesterone to start my period. Well, I did get my period, and it was fine. And it's been a month and a half since, and haven't gotten another period. Is it going to take a while for my hormones to balance out before it'll start on its own, or what? I'm very frustrated because my husband and I are planning on trying for another baby soon, but not if this is going on...

When I was taking progesterone, I had to take it every time I needed to have a period.

When trying for my first, I took progesterone monthly for about 5 months, in combination with Chlomid. I would not start my period without taking progesterone.

Well, I thought the whole point was that it tricks your body into thinking it ovulated...so if I'm not ovulating, then how am I suppose to get pregnant? Is it the Chlomid that makes you ovulate..ok I guess that makes sense. Thank you!

Why not just get off all the drugs and give your body some time to regulate itself? Naturally?

Yes, Clomid is an ovulation stimulant.

If I remember right, when trying to conceive a Dr will prescribe progesterone to make sure that you have not recently ovulated or have become pregnant. That way you are not inducing ovulation on top of ovulation or disrupting a current ovulation.

You also want to induce a period before taking Clomid to make sure that your uterine lining is at its prime for implantation of the egg. It's all about timing when taking these two together and getting a Dr that explains it thoroughly.

So basically, the progesterone induces your period, but doesn't do a whole lot with ovulation. Hence the reason for taking Clomid.

It was about 10 years ago, when I went through all this, so I don't remember all the technicalities of it because thankfully, for some reason, I had no problems conceiving our second.
