    Birth Control and Plan B

About 2 and a half weeks ago I had sex with my bf and the condom broke. They were a new kind we wanted to try "Ecstasy." Anyway, right when that happened he freaked out and said we're getting plan b in the morning.

Now I wasn't freaked out, or felt plan b was necessary. I've been on birth control for years and I trust it immensely. My bf and I used to have sex all the time without condoms and he would just pull out. Nowadays, we always use condoms, every single time, and the one time it breaks he's panicking like no tomorrow. I understand why he feels that way, but couples have sex that way all the time without consequences. if the girl is on birth control, most guys feel that is enough and ejaculate right inside of them.

I ended up taking plan b the next day, and as a precaution my bf doesn't want to have sex until after my period comes and goes. So in total, i'll be going 3.5 weeks without sex because he's afraid I'm pregnant.

What the ! If I am pregnant, which I'm not, he's not going to make me EXTRA pregnant. The point of plan b to be double sure I'm not pregnant, but he still doesn't want to do anything. Gaaahh I've never been so frustrated. I'm not pressuring him to do anything though, because I would never make him do something he was uncomfortable about, but it's still making me crazy.

Just wondering if any of you have been through something similar.

You're on the pill and he still wears a condom and pulls out?! That's a bit over the top, IMO.
No one can 'make' you take plan b. If you're taking the pill correctly it's 99.5% effective. Not only do you not need the condoms and pulling out, you certainly don't need plan b.

Of course, that's my opinion. It seems he's deathly afraid of getting pregnant. Has he had a bad experience in the past or something?

Oh no, he pulled out in the past when we didn't use condoms. Now that we use them he stays in, which is why he freaked out because the condom broke when that happened, so he ejaculated in me.

He's so afraid because neither of us are at a time in our lives where we could properly raise a child. We aren't financially ready for one and we're still trying to graduate from college, I mean having a family isn't our priority right now. He wants to have babies with me in the future, but that's when we are ready and stable.

Are you taking the pill properly? Are you on any other medications or herbs? If you're using the pill as directed, there's no need for even pulling out, let alone plan b. It's good that you're being cautious and all but the plan b is really a bit much. It's not as hard on your body as it used to be but still, it's a lot of hormones you have to deal with when you're already being safe.

Yes, I take the pill properly every day at the same time. I've never missed a pill.

Yeah, I don't know... I think he's just over cautious sometimes. I didn't think i needed plan b, but when the doctor said it had a very low risk of causing symptoms or effecting my cycle, I decided to take it. It gave him a peace of mind and it didn't hurt me at all.

IMO, I think you should be happy that you have a boyfriend that cares about his and your future. As you state niether of you are ready to have a child, he is just being cautious. Put yourself in his position. If you just don't like the way he thinks about being cautious don't have sex with him anymore. I'm sure you can do 3.5 weeks without sex.

I think that is being a little over-precautious! I also think that 2 weeks in, your BF might realize that he's missing sex as much as you are and give in to the temptation! haha

I took plan B once, and my period was a week late. Needless to say I was freaked the freak out. I frantically went online to see if plan B can cause a late period and it can. The pharmacist didn't mention anything about that! That is an important piece of information!!! So, just FYI (in case your pharmacist is as inept as mine) your period could be more than 3.5 weeks away!

Thanks for the heads up. I was also afraid it would mess up my cycle, but I was on schedule and everything, yay!
