    Hormonal birth control is fatal

Hello, HORMONAL BIRTH CONTROL WILL KILL ME!

My name is Shaun-Tay. *edit* My maternal grandmother if full blood alaska native (chugach), my maternal grandfather is german and sweedish, my paternal grandmother is african(unknown)-American and Irish-indian(unknown), my paternal grandfather is african(unknown)-American and native north American-indian(unknown). I grew up and lived in L.A. california and was covered under my mother's health insurance through UCLA untill I was 23 got married and moved to monett missouri.

From birth to 12 years old my mother kept me up to date on all vaccination, dental and vision check-ups. From age 12 through high school I had an 3 additional sports health check-ups yearly. From age 15 to current I have continued to get my anual pap smear test. In all that time I have had one occasion where I had the flu, twice with a UTI, and four times have had yeast infections. But from the time my husband and I moved to missouri and I started working for a chicken factory (the past 3 years) I have had the flu three times each winter, colds through out the rest of the years, ringworm, UTI's and yeast infections at every check up despite anti-biotics, migranes, insomnia, bouts of throwing up, hospitalizations due to intestinal viral and bacteria infections, tendonitis, and skin rashes. We were in a vehicular accident on november 1, 2009 the company that we work for put me on medical leave instead of light duty and cancelled our health insurance since it was pulled out of my pay check, my husband enrolled us under his paycheck and the insurance company is saying that because it is a new policy that all our medical is classified as pre-existing.

I did get x-rays in november, and an MRI in december but they only did it with out contrasting, diagnosing me with a crushed disc in my lumbar and a pinched disc in my thoratic. that was the extent of my doctor visits till this last month of may. I went in due to my dentist saying I needed to see an MD ASAP from my breadth smelling like rotting food and throwing up. I went to see the doctor on friday may 7th and they took blood, did an electro something heart test, and swabs of my nose and throt. I got a call from the doctor (not her nurse) and she said she needed to do more tests to confirm: Hepatomegaly, Renal Disease, Hyperthyrotoxicosis, Graves, Pancreatitis, and Intestinal Putrefaction.

The doctor said I had to go off and stay off of any type of hormonal birth control because the added hormons will put my heart into overdrive and kill me through a heart attack; but to be sure that I do not get pregnant because that also can be FATAL in my current health condition. We would try abstance but sex has been the only thing that has been helping with the insomnia, cramps, headaches, and back pain. I have an appointment with the doctor on thursday June 17th and due to really tight finances I may have to choose between medications to get my own hormons back to normal with no sex and crippling pain or a form of non hormonal birth control like the copper T IUD.

Has anybody heard about someone in my condition and the IUD?

I can also use some help in finding questions to ask my doctor about birth control and my health condition.

Birth control is a drug, it is going to have complications if combined with other serious health conditions and doctors know this which is why they are saying no you cannot have it right now. You can still get non-hormonal, millions of women get them so just ask your physician what options there are.

Usually the only reason birth control has a warning of being fatal is from an increased risk of blood clots. Birth control can be linked to yeast infections, even just having your period can cause yeast infections from changes in hormones, but all the rest probably not. The hormones may contribute a little, possibly a lot if you have an existing problem with your reproductive tract, but they are are unlikely to be the actual cause. It sounds like your immune is under a lot of stress from something. Unfortunately I know full well what it's like trying to get seemingly disconnected symptoms diagnosed as anything. I had enough blood tests they were running out of places to put a needle, multiple ultrasounds, multiple chest ct's, head mri, sleep studies, various test on my heart and lungs both under stress and laying down, multiple ER visits with one lasting 12hours, 24hours in the hospital with round the clock blood drawn and wearing a holter monitor... They had no answer.

In the end I self diagnosed and my doctor agreed with a series of events all starting with an IUD which was still not the actual problem. The problem was the 3 weeks spent in bed from the pain of the IUD and no one giving me good pain killers. Lack of movement led to severe constipation, which led to bacterial overgrowth of the small intestine, which caused inflammation and stopped enzymes from being produced, and that caused food intolerance which caused more inflammation. While that loop was going on my colon was stretched to the size of my doctor's forearm putting pressure on my lungs so I couldn't expand the lower half of my lungs for a full breath. This part I'm not clear on but the problems in my digestive tract upset my blood pressure so that a medication I was taking for insomnia that caused a mild decrease in blood pressure now led to severe hypotension and tachycardia. Since there is no established values for low blood pressure it was not caught and the ct scan contrast material which also causes low blood pressure basically caused attacks where I would hyperventilate.

All it takes is one little thing to throw everything off and doctors just plain suck at finding that one little event that starts it all as well as all the connections. They test and treat each symptom seperately. 8months later I finally get to go back to my life with basically doing my own physical therapy from all the bed rest and lack of exercise.

I can't take it due to clotting. I had a non hormonal IUD for years and it was great. Best to you dealing with all this.
