    Copper IUD

    Hi Everyone,
I just joined today I am a 36 yrs old, never had childeren using the copper IUD for the past 2 years. Just this past month I have experienced a 2 week period. 2nd week light, but visible. Anyone else experience this before? I want to have childeren in the future (BF and I not quite ready yet) but would like to hear if anyone else has experienced these symptoms. I am torn with what to do. I am not in any discomfort. Slight cramp on my right side just like your usual cramping. I have been going to the gym doing my normal work outs etc. Not sure...any suggestions, similar experiences out there?

I think your thread's going to get moved to the birth control section, but anyhoo, if this is only happening for one month, then I'd say it'll likely pass, that is if the rest of the 2 years on the IUD were fine. Sometimes our cycles get a little wacky from time to time, it's normal.

Thank you Mes_T for your reply.. It has definatley made me feel a better. A few of my girlfriends have shared the exact same sentiments as you. Going to the Dr. come Monday for my anual check up (pap). The reason why I wanted to share my experience with other woman is that I had quite a difficult time finding similar symptoms in the net. Therefore thought I would share this in case other woman out there are going through the same thing. I had an ultrasound done last Thursday, my results were normal. The IUD is in place, no cysts, nothing abnormal. Weird huh? Which makes me believe you could be right, it could just be one of those things... Thanks again. All the best Rosie

The Paragard sucks, and when i had it, i had tons of cramping and bleeding. It does say that periods will be heavier and longer with the Paragard, sounds like whatever you are going through is normal, glad to see u could tolerate the Paragard for that long (2yrs) wow! i couldnt stand it for 1 mnt!

yeah that happened to me a few times
i went to the doctor in hysterics because i thought it might have moved/scratched/perforated something
and they checked and all was fine.
          sometimes these things happen x
