Depends on your body
Some people have had massive problems with the Mirena IUDs, but I've had one for two years and loved it! I've never had children, so it hurt like **** going in and afterward for a while. I've really only had one unpleasant experience with it, the strings (which I asked them to leave longer) sometimes poke me and it's uncomfortable until you move them. Other than that, the thing kicks ***! I've not had a period since I got it
and my partner never felt the strings.
You can talk to your doctor and do your research, decide if you want to chance being one of the unlucky people who do have problems with this kind of device. Ultimately, you won't know how your body will react to it until you've had it in. Just my 2cents!Comment

hello there,
well i also had the copper iud and i absoultly LOVE it!!!!!! it does indeed last for 10 years and it does not contain any hormones at all which was wonderful for me. it is a little painful going in though like a severe cramping. it is a good option for someone who has only one partner. the only adverse reaction i ever experienced with it was that my period was slightly heavier. not to much difference. i had it in for 5 years and never had a problem at all. removing it was a breeze didn't feel a thing when they took it out. well good luck in your decision.Comment

I had it for about 2 weeks and got it taken out. It hurt so bad I was miserable. I would cry all day long. Prior to it I had 2 set of the norplant. I loved the Norplant I wish they never banned it from the states. After the IUD I went to the Depo Pro, it is ok but I have to take calcium pills now bc my bones are weak.Comment
