Infections from IUD - suppliments helpful?

I had a copper IUD inserted in Nov 2006. Since, I have been batteling yeast and bacterial infections that rage before I ovulate and menestrate. Sometime the burning is so bad in the shower that I have to get out. I learned that this could be an overactive immune system that makes my PH reach high levels of acidity.
The docs say these are not connected to the IUD. I am not so sure. All this craziness has been out-of-control since Nov. I am trying to get to the bottom of it - my husband and I don't need contraception if I am always fighting an infection!
I am taking 8 billion achidophilus with bifidus 3x a day and Florastor (supposdly good yeast) 2x a day. Any other suggestions??
Does anyone have any advice or personal story to help? Should I have the stupid thing remmoved?

I had the Mirena and battled BV from the week after insertion until it was removed 11 months later. I will NEVER get an IUD again. I tried everything and it would not go away. My dr also said it was not from the IUD and I know that was a lie. It started right after I got it ! They had me change all my soaps, detergents and toilet paper all to hypoallergenic and they still didnt go away.
I looked at it as its a foreigh object in your body how can it not cause infections ?

      Get it out

Well I had a copper IUD. It was taken out last week. I have had a BV for the last 2 years. I am hoping now that I have gotten it out it will finally go away. I am taking acidophilus with 35 billion per pill 1x a day and it doesn't seem to help. I use boric acid suppositiries to keep my PH level where it need to be, the say boric acid will treat yeast too. All I know is it kills ants....I can not describe how much I hated the stupid thing. Once I had mine taken out I had them run tests on it to see what bacterias they could find. I will let you know what they find. I have spent soo much money trying to get better it has probably cost more than the IUD. My doctor talked me out of taking it out. She said these side effects are very rare. BS. She cut the strings and said maybe that would help cause the strings can absorbe bacteria. It didn't help. We treated my husband because she said we could be passing it back and forth. We stopped having sex for 2 months to see if that was it. Yet I never got better. Sounds like our bodies are telling us something.... I listened and got it out. I HOPE U and I GET BETTER. Good luck!

Ask your dr to call you in a script for Vandazole. It kicks butt on these infections from the IUD.

I see this is an old post but it was the first google search that came up upon searching "infections from IUD" so I am going to respond here.

I have always had yeast infections ALL my life and thats a long time seeing I amonly 30. When I go tthe Mirena IUD inserted a little over 2 years ago it got real bad. Not as frequent but the duration and severity was rediculous. Nothing works to cure it. If it does it comes right back with the next period. The IUD had me spot bleeding PURE BLACK for over 6 months which I was told was normal and just old blood. Now reading the Mirena site it seems its not such an okay thing. The last 3 months I have been battling a YEAST infection. The gyno gives me this and gives me that! Then I have to wait to take stuff because I am getting an annoying period... which is just a black spotting period.... about twice a month. This infection or this infection RAGES like poster one described. I have been doing a lil research and I never look up in there with a mirror but I did today and it is all WHITE! Smooth white not blotchy like it seems yeast is. Its ot anywhere on teh outer either just looks like its all over the cervix maybe. I coudl see this just buy standing with a mirriw between my legs and spreading apart a bit. So I got to researching and I think I may have Chlymadia!!! After further reasearch they say Chlymadia untreated can cause PID.. Pelvic inflamatory disease or and Cervicitis. After reading those two it stated under the PID that while Chlymadia and Ghonorhea (sprry for these spellings) are main culprits for PID and Cervivitis SO IS A BACTERIA that may enter the body durring some surgical or office procedures such as: and IUD Insertion, Childbirth Endo biopsy, miscarriage and abortion. Could it be this is chlymadia caused by the IUD insertion!
Sorry I didnt save the page.

Forgot to add that I have been with my now hubby since I was 15. Married for 7 years. We did step out a few times bfore we got married but NOTHING since. We swear to one another and I have had two children. One in 03 and one in 08 so now tests came back for any STD's but my IUD was inserted 6 months post c-section in 09. Every itch, or discharge has been ampted to Yeast or BV!
