    I'm Scared!!! :(

Hey guys my name is Jessica, I'm 20 years old. I have a problem well something that has been on my mind for years. I never have regular periods NEVER. as of now i probably havent had a period since in a year, i got my first when i was 15. Yes ive been to the doctor.. he said i'd be regular by 18. well im 20 now & still nothing. He put me on birth control for the last 3 years , & at the end of the month i do get my period.. BUT i ONLY get my period if i take the pills. but im bad with the pill i confess, i stop taking it purposly because im scared ill end up making myself more infertile somehow.. obviously i cant get pregnant if im on the pill & i can't get pregnant if im never ovulating, ive been to doctors theyve checked me from head to toe.. I'm in fine working condition .. so they all say, i'm just scared, to me this isnt normal. It isnt a problem right now, im in the army, school, work etc.. & its nice to not worry about getting your period any time.. but it's always in the back of my mind & it terrifies because i want a family one day. ive beeen having nightmares since i was 15!!! about this.. me having miscarriges & losing babies.. & i know it has to do with this problem in my life. I'm still young but i see my friends & family all having babies & its on my mind more than ever. IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WHO HAS BEEN THROUGH THIS? KNOWS ABOUT IT? OR IS GOING THROUGH IT NOW?..

I know for sure its called pcos and that she has not had a regular period except when she was on the pill like you!! Now they have her on provera to start her periods back up and I think something else, well she and her hubby had been trying to get pregnant so she took a blood test yesterday we should find out in the next couple days, anyway thats a story for ya' maybe you should metion pcos to your dr and just see Good Luck

      Hey

Hey ! I have the EXACT same problem. I am 18 and I have had my period since I was 14 and I have NEVER had a regular period. It always scared me. But I just barely got my first pap today and it went good. I told her that I've never had a regular period and she didn't seem worried. If it was anything to be worried about, I'm sure they would have let you know. I know what you mean about the fertility thing, but I doubt it will have anything to do with that.

      much love! -sarah

        What Is Your Bmi Girls???

Look in the mirror and be honest.
        Are you underweight??
Periods are linked to body weight. If a girl is annorexic, her period will stop.
If a girl is overweight, her periods will usually be heavy. It's our body's way of using energy...and also why usually really obese children get their period so early!

I don't know if this relates to you, but it makes me wonder why your period would start at a normal age and then suddenly stop, at that fragile period of a woman's life when being skinny is so important to us.

        Good luck girls

I just wanted to put in my two cents, Im not sure if it has anything to do with your problem or not but its true your weight does have alot to do with it. Im 20 now and just over a hundred on a good day, im also short. However when I was younger (say 15 till 18) my periods were pretty messed up.When I had them they were regular but then I would go a few months with out one. And they were never to the day. But after i started gaining weight( i was much smaller before and not on purpose either) they began to become more and more closer to becoming regular, I cant tell you much more just good luck in figuring it out and that if you are skinny it could be an issue or rather a factor.

Well it does sound like polycystic ovarian syndrome. It could of course be related to weight too! But being that you've had issues since you were 15, and the only time you do have a period is when you take the pill then I doubt it's weight! Women can get pregnant with this condition, and some can't. Some has to go to specialist, and some don't. I have four cousins with the condition.. one has tried for years naturally, and with help and had no luck, one used meds and it worked two times! One thought she couldn't ever have kids so didn't do anything to prevent it..and now she's 14 weeks pregnant..and believe me that was a surprise..and one is just letting things happen..but hasn't gotten pregnant after 2 years! So it's not hopelss.. if you are meant to have children.. you are going to children
