    Essure...

Can anyone tell me loosely how much it costs to have it done and how hard will it be to procure it since I'm 20 years old and the assumption is that I will want a baby one day?

Before someone expresses concern and advises me not to get permanently altered...it's okay, I've thought that one through. I'm open to the idea that I might indeed want a child one day, but my plan is if that happens I'll adopt one. I don't want a biological child for two reasons. One is just that the idea of being pregnant scares me to and back, the other is that my DNA contains some stuff I'd rather not pass on. I have mild Asperger's traits and my brother is profoundly autistic, and I do not wish to create a child who might also be severely autistic.

    Anyone?

      Kaliane,

      Welcome to the Forum..

I encourage you to place the words Essure failure, up the top in the white box, under the words Advanced search and read.

It's understandable that your thought this out and are worried.

I don't believe a Doctor legally would be able to perform this proceedure irrespective, due to your age, however, there actually are other options that are reversable, I know I changed my mind about alot of things as I got older and also being in love and him wanting a child, and you advising you can't may end up being a regret..

There is a lot to consider in this..

Not all things are hereditory either sweet, you can be tested to see what the chances are, plus it also depends on the strength of the genes from the Father.

Not to scare you but the essure seems to have more pain, suffering and some pregnancies than success.

I am new to this site, so hello everyone! I was looking around for some info on permanent birth control options and happened to see your post. I know what you are going thru to some degree. I am 31 years old and I have a severely autistic 9 year old daughter. My husband and I decided a long time ago that we do not want anymore children. I wanted to get my "tubes tied" when I was 25. My Dr would not do it because of my age. I fear having another autistic child. Dont get me wrong, I love my daughter but she requires a lot of time and energy. I wouldn't have anything left for anyone else. So, here I am 7 years later feeling the same way. I have an appointment tomorrow to go over my options. We also said that if we decided to have anymore children we would adopt. In response to the other person who replied to your post, there is no genetic testing for autism. It is a hit or miss disorder. No one on either side of my family or my husbands has any form of autism. My daughter is the only one and we have a Large family. I dont have any answers for you or advice. I just wanted you to know that I know where you are coming from and I understand your fears.

          Thanks for caring.

I definitely want a permanent option. My boyfriend does not want kids either and we do plan on being together long term.

Also I hate the idea of being pregnant and would much prefer to adopt a child if I ever wanted one. Another consideration is that even if we wanted to have a biological child, I'm at least part Asperger and he is very "Type S". So our child would get a double dose of Type S genes. Not a good mix.

Sucks about the dangers of essure. I very much liked that option as it doesn't involve anyone slicing into my core muscles (eek!)

              Kaliane and Tafita...

Have either of you contemplated asking the men in your life to get a vasectomy? Unfortunately there have been quite a few occurrences of pregnancy with Essure. Women who were told the procedure was successful and worked falling pregnant years later. With the concerns that the two of you have and the possibility of still becoming pregnant with Essure, I would hope that your partners would be open to having a vasectomy done.

I know But the thing is I'm 99.9999% sure I don't want a child. Hence I want to get permanently altered somehow so I won't have to worry.

I'm well aware that many women get 'baby fever' at 26-30 ish. If that happens I'd like to adopt a child rather than have a biological one.

                    99.9999% hey? lol's...

Cute, okay well consider something that is reversable, should you change your mind

You know to be honest, I knew I was not going to have children, of my own, but would one day have a child that was someone else's...and, thought I would have adopted children as well. Don't know why I just did, however, I'm maternal to animals and to other's children I was/am ambitious so that was my reason.

I do have a daughter now, step-daughter, 12..And I have a few adopted daughters, here, through WH That I speak with, we send cards to each other, presents, and they really are my daughters.

So I get that...Just make sure in your heart of hearts that (like me) is what you want, ...because adopting or step children, are just the same as your own...it's all love full stop.
