HI, I have been taking bc pills now for 3 years and have been on my new one for 3 months now and had no problems. I have started a diet through my doc. and it is taking phentermine, and I have had spotting with it, but nothing to bad. Well I was wondering if anyone knows if the bc pill is still working even though I am taking the phentermine pill too. My husband and I had sex the other night and ever since then I have started signs of my period with the brownish discharge, this wouldnt be the first time I have had this happen after we have had sex, we do not use protection so I was also wondering what are the odds of being pregnant while on bc pills and taking the phentermine, thanks and I hope someone has had this experience or at least had the break though bleeding and or knows if bc is still effective.

First, I'm pretty shocked that your doctor would encourage you to take Phentermine. I know that it's something doctors prescribe sometimes, but it's still something I don't understand. Why prescribe appetite suppressants instead of referring you to a nutritionist who can help you learn how to eat healthy and exercise properly?

There doesn't seem to be any direct interaction with birth control and phentermine. Matter of fact, it's very important that you do not get pregnant while taking this drug because of complications it could cause to the pregnancy and to the baby.

When I was on LoestrinFE my periods were almost non-existant but I still had all the pms symptoms and often times would spot for up to 2 weeks at a time but then would never actually start my period. It was highly frustrating for me in addition to all the money I spent on pregnancy tests during that time.

How overweight are you? What are you doing aside from the phentermine to promote weight loss?

Well the doc. has me on meal replacement bars, and phentermine as well as some other type of appeite pill, and the vitam chrome? something like that, and I can only eat salads until 3 pm and nothing after that and drink tons and tons of water, I was weighing 183 and am now down to 160 within 3wks. As for working out I run or jog i should say a mile everyday and my job also helps with working out, I didnt weight much but for my height i was, and I am trying to get down to at least 115 so I can have a baby and not weigh a lot since i'm 5'0". Any ways, yeah I have been spotting every since I started taking the appeite pills, and when I started taking the loestrin everything was fine and i knew when I was going to start my period, and yes i have takin preg tests to in case that way i can stop taking the phentermine asap and hopes that i can catch it without doing to much damage if any at all. It is a pretty scary deal, but he also said that if i do get preg to stop taking it as soon as i find out which its crazy and makes me worry because this is now my second cycle to be on my period and i have started a week early again while still taking my active pills until i start my non-active pills, sorry this is so much but i figured others may want to know too.
