Going on birthcontrol during my period
Hi i wanna lose my virginity to my boyfriend who i have been dating for 10 months now. I will lose my virginity around the end of august most probably but i was wondering: my period started on sunday, tomorrow is wednesday so ill be on my 4th day of my period. If i start taking the yasmin birth control pill tomorrow, will it "protect" me by the end of august and also: will it mess up my cycle a lot? I am very irregular anyways, sometimes i dont have my period for 5 weeks straight. Please advice!! Xx -
Don't "mess" with your cycle. Birth control is tough enough for the body to get used to. Wait until the day you go off your period and take your first pill. Then, you should not consider yourself protected from pregnancy for at least one full cycle (until you start your second pack). I highly recommend that you two use condoms regardless as the pill will definitely not protect you from STD's and is good practice to get into if you're going to be sexually active. -
I agree, my healthcare system in the UK recommends that we get ourselves tested for all STIs with every new partner before coming off condoms. Of course even that doesn't guarantee that people won't get infected as people cheat, etc. But make sure you get tested together, as you may be a virgin, but there's no guarantee he is!
