How Long Does It Take For Loestrin 24 fe To Work?

I started Loestrin 24 on the 5th (end) day of my period on the 31st of July (Sunday). I thought it worked right away. My boyfriend came in me on the 4th of August, so I had only been on my birth control for 5 days.

I've read from different people that it takes 7 days, 1 month and 3 months. Which one is right and what happens if you had unprotected sex before it started working?

You should have received a leaflet in your pill pack. I would refer to that. BC's are different, so you best bet is to read the information that came with your packet.

If you had unprotected sex before it started working... Well, then, you could get pregnant.

I just found this on their website.

      SUNDAY START:
      1. Take the first white pill of the first pack on the Sunday after your period starts, even if you are still bleeding. If your period begins on Sunday, start the pack that same day.
      2. Use another method of birth control as a back-up method if you have sex anytime from the Sunday you start your first pack until the next Sunday (7 days). Condoms or spermicide are good back-up methods of birth control.

I didn't receive a leaflet. I think they forgot to put it in there. I looked online and it said 7 days. If my boyfriend came inside of my before the 7th day, is there a chance I could be pregnant? Does the birth control stop be from ovulating?

Does the birth control stop be from ovulating?
Birth control was created to stop ovulation. The 7 days is the "ideal" time one should practice a little more safe sex, which simply means using condoms. The pill will start doing it's job the first day it is taken however it is your body that needs more time getting used to seeing it there and hence the 7 recommended days to practice safer sex using condoms. It DOES NOT mean you will automatically become pregnant if you have sex during that time, it simply means your body has not fully gotten used to seeing it there.

I have another question..... A few days ago I started spotting. It was a light pink color and today I am spotting again and it's a dark brown color. I NEVER ever spot before my periods. Is this from the pill?

Brown is from old blood, not all blood from a cycle is completely pushed out during your period so it will come out as the brown smears. Spotting can occur at any point when taking the pill, most often it occurs when you first start taking it since your body is still getting used to seeing it there. It is normal to see spotting, light or not, pink or not.
