    just started birth control

I just started birth control and not because I wanted to but because my dad made me... so I asked the doctor for the lowest dosage... I am on Sprintic.... I have only been on it for two days now (I take it at 7pm every night)... I am already feeling effects, like breast are tender, headaches (especially the first day) and mood swings, and after I take it I get flushed. My period has ALWAYS been normal and on time, never had acne or weight problems, and no issues with my blood flow.... The doctor didn't even want me on it... I am in a relationship and have been in it for a long time, him and I are against it morally, we believe it will happen when it happens, and it haven't happened yet, and we have never used protection, we are also Roman Catholic... but lets not get into the religion part in this we all have our beliefs.

my question is, is it normal to have these side effects this soon?

and should I even take it if I don't want too?

    thanks

It is possible to have side effects early on.

If you are adult enough to be sexual active, and adult enough to financially support a child should you become pregnant, then yes, you should make the decision to stop taking the BC.

For Catholics, sex is for husband and wife, and the act of man ejaculating is suppose to only occur with the intent of pregnancy. Without this intent, it is considered a waste, and a sin.

You say morally you are against BC because it will prevent impregnation, but aren't against premarital sex which is also a sin. It seems your dad is in a predicament. He can't prevent you from having sex, but he can at least say he tried to prevent it by getting you to a doctor and getting your prescription.

I agree. This makes me worry that the OP is very young and hence not financially or emotionally prepared for a child and not yet mature enough. I see this as the father protecting his child even in a small step because he is aware of the consequences of said possible pregnancy at such a young age. OP I do not mean to insult or belittle you but if you are young and you are engaging in unprotected sex there is still going to be a great chance of pregnancy and having a child at a very young age is not something to be taken lightly.

I am in the process of getting married... like I said lets not get on the religion aspect of this and yes we are financially able to take care of a child... I think if you are having sex then you are assuming the responsibility of what could happen.... I am not a hard core catholic and to be honest I don't attend church often, my father is the BIG catholic.... and being that he is a full Italian I have to respect his wishes, and his values.... but I do not agree with preventing life from happening...nooo... totally against it specially if I can support the child..... and my fiancée is ready too.... like I said... if I am "big" enough to have sex than I am assuming the responsibility and consequences that come along with it

The only reason I brought up religion is because you did in a hypocritical way.
You posted that you are using religion as an excuse/reason/argument to not to use BC, but also denying religion to engage in premarital sex which is a no no as well for Catholics.

The OP sounded as if you where underage and being forced by a father to take BC. I mean, if you are 18+,out of high school and not living with him I see no reason why he would or should be involved in your prescriptions or concerned with your sex life if the cost of a child isn't going to fall on him.
