I have a copper IUD and I can feel the strings. They say to check every month. If you can feel the strings, then everything should be fine, no matter how short they are. If you can't feel them, it might be a good idea to go to the doctor and let them check just to put your mind at ease.

I had the other IUD that did not have copper but my strings always did the same thing. It is normal no need to worry As long as you feel the threads your fine.

You should check every month to your gyn and you feel something strange then go urgent to gyn.

The strings will sometimes seem shorter or longer throughout your cycle because your cervix changes positions (i.e. higher or lower) during ovulation, menstruation, etc.
