SHould I be taking my birth control at the same time every day?

Okay I just started my third month of my birth control pill (Ortho tri-cyclen) and I have never missed a day. However, a few times probably like 5 maybe 6 I've taken it maybe an hour later than I usually do. I have an alarm set for 4pm every day to take it and I almost always do, except for these few times, but I've never missed a day. With this in mind, is it safe for me and my boyfriend to have sex without a condom? Or am I at a significantly higher risk of getting pregnant?

Nope an hour one way or another will not make a difference... you'll have to read the directions for your specific brand, but most pills you're fine if you take it within 3 hours of your normal time. Just try to keep it as consistent as you possibly can!

The mini pill (POP) should be taken at the same time each day as you only have a three hour time frame during which to take it, otherwise it may be ineffective.
The combined pill can be effective up to 12 hours late, any more than this and you would have to use back up contraception for seven days..
I find it very complicated as there are all sorts of things that can affect your pill, just be sure to read the instructions well and if you have any doubts it only takes a minute to call your doctor or use an alternative contraceptive - better that than the alternative!
Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.

Within 2-3 hours is fine. I am on the ortho tri cyclen too and there have been several times I've taken it a couple hours later and have never had a problem (I'm starting my 3rd year on it). Even if you miss a pill completely, you will be fine (take it as soon as you remember though) but if you miss completely more than one in a row, then you need to use protection. Make sure to read the instructions on what to do if you completely miss a pill just in case though! It really helped me a lot because there have been nights where I completely space it.
But ya, to answer your original question, 2-3 hours should be fine.

I never used Birth control pills but I hear from women that birth control pills only work properly when these are used daily at same time.
