    I think my pill's failed

    Hi ladies,

I'm really, really worried that my pill's failed. I do naturally get paranoid but basically my worries go like this.

I'm on Microgynon 30 and have been for over a year. I've always had mild side effects that I've ignored, and due to my job always take the pills slightly different times each day (but never more than 4 hours apart)

I've not missed any pills this month but I have run two packs together (currently on week 1 of pack 2). I have been ill lately but not been sick (it's been a cold/flu virus), but today particularly I have REALLY sore boobs, feeling hot, a headache, and have been sick. No stomach cramps/breakthrough bleeding.

I don't know whether I'm being paranoid because I've been ill anyway etc but my boobs have never been this sore and I've run 2 pill packs together before with some side effects but never this exaggerated.

Just wondered if anyone's been in the same position?

    Thanks x

The easiest thing you can do at this point is take a pregnancy test. Find the cheapest one you can buy - I don't know what the UK version of Dollar Tree might be, but that's where I suggest people go in the US. From the timeline you've given, you should probably be able to take it now. Generally, tests are accurate on the first day of the missed period (in your case, the skipped period.)
If you're not worrying about an already-formed unwanted pregnancy, but instead a prospective unwanted pregnancy, use condoms until your next round of placebo pills. While it may just be paranoia, it is better to be safe and it will save you some stress.

I've never used the brand of pills you mentioned, but any time I tried to skip a period using pills, I would always feel out of whack. While there's no medical reason to have a period while using BCP's, it always made me feel more normalized.

I agree with Little about the pregnancy the test is the easiest solution to have piece of mind. And concerning the problems that you described the doctor can put your mind at ease but it is likely that your body doesn't "agree" with this particular product.
