    Advice needed

Okay so I'm about to have to get real personal here for a second. But the way my birth control works out I would have just have gotten off of my period the next time I get to be with my boyfriend (if you know what I mean). I haven't seen him in a few months and I want it to be all clear for when I get to see him. So my plan was to take the placebo pills a week earlier than I'm suppose to just to be extra sure that everything will be all good. Is that an okay thing to do??? I feel like it should be because I would still be taking the right number of pills just mix up when I take the placebos but my boyfriend is worried that it would mess something up. SO is there anybody who can give me advice on this? It would be greatly appreciated ^-^ Thanks

What's the brand name of your pills? Different pills work different ways - some of them will be much more messed up than others by doing something like this.

But any time you mess with a rhythm your reproductive system has established, you can end up spotting (if not with a full-blown period,) which is obviously not what you want.

You cannot skip an entire week of active pills, that is what you would have to do in order to take placebos a week earlier. That will definitely mess up your entire menstrual cycle for other months. What you can do instead is skip the placebos altogether and just start taking the next pack of active pills when you should be taking the placebos. Doing it that way will keep your body from having your period, however it is not uncommon to have light spotting.

        I'd take ItsASecret's advice.
I've done that before and I personally didn't have any spotting but friends of mine have done the same thing and did experience spotting.

I also second IAS. The "period" you get while on the pill really isn't a real period. That is why now they have BC that don't require you to bleed every month. So skipping the sugar pills is fine. You can also call you GYN on it. They deal with this stuff all the time.

If the OP is taking a triphasic pill, she can't just skip the placebo pills and move on to the next pack. That only works for monophasic pills. If she's taking something like Ortho TriCyclen, she'll need to follow a more complicated pattern with two packs to get the same result.
