    Morning after pill side effects

My period had been finished for about 5 days when I had unprotected sex. It was heavier than normal because I missed my period a month before. In any case, I took the morning after pill 28 hrs after unprotected sex. They say it's best taken up to 72 hours after. I used Next Choice One Dose. Four days later, I feel slight pain and discomfort in my lower left adomen area as well as bloating. I may also be ovulating. I've heard this kind of pain is typical of the morning after pill. Otherwise, I've never experienced nausea or vomitting because of the pill. I haven't experienced any spotting so far. I don't take birth control pills because of what I've heard about the side effects. So, the pill is the only chemical birth control I've ever taken. The only birth control we've used is condoms.

My concern is whether this hanging feeling or pain in the lower stomach along with the bloating is typical. It is not likely due to pregnancy because this was the only time I had unprotected sex. And since it's been only a week, it would be too soon to determine pregancy or for pregnancy symptoms to be present or obvious.

I've done quite a bit of research on the morning after pill, and it seems typical for the body to have pregnancy-like symptoms. They say the period may come earlier or later. Since my period just finished over a week ago, It seems I'd have to wait a few weeks before I could find out if the pill worked or if I'm pregnant if it didn't.

I'm almost regretting taking the pill because of how it affects the body. Even though it may not be the best time, I don't have a problem getting pregnant, so my main concern is whether the pill's effects will cause other serious long term problems especially to my menstrual cycle or the ovaries.

    Anyone has experience with this?

The morning after pills is intended for emergency situations because of the way it is designed to work, it contains several times the dose of certain chemicals present in regular birth control but in a single pill form. That mass dose is not intended to be taken regularly. It is okay to have taken the morning after pill if this is your first time but definitely do not make a habit of taking it. If you are not okay with regular birth control that is fine but absolutely make sure you find a method that you are comfortable with and stick to it.

The MAP basically messes with your body so much that a lot of side effects can occur, also why it is not intended for frequent use. That does not mean everything you read can happen to you specifically but there is the chance that you may experience bloating, pain, nausea, headaches, vomiting, spotting, lack of period this month and maybe next month. So yes it is normal to be experiencing what you are feeling now. You may also experience the brown spotting as well which is simply old blood, that is a very normal reaction should it occur.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.

Thank you for the advice. yeah, will not be using it as regular birth control. I didn't even want to take it because I was worried about the side effects. We have been pretty successful with using condoms alone. Funny thing is that the only thing which worries me is how it would affect my body, although pregnancy would have similar effects.
