    getting comfortable with Mirena

    Hi,

I got the Mirena inserted a little over a month ago. I just got it checked last week & everything seemed to be just fine. I did tell my doctor that I had had a little bleeding & slight pain the first couple of times I had sex & told him about how I sometimes get pains in my stomach...generally on my right side. They are really nothing serious at all. Last night & today I am having some lower back pains which are still nothing too bad either, nothing excruciating at all. I did end up having a pretty painful UTI last week though (which I just finished my antiobiotic today & it seems to be better). I am wondering if being on that has had anything to do with my pains I've been having. Earlier today I was feeling a kind of sharp poke right in the middle of my lower abdomen, again it wasn't any extreme pain. I seem to have had what feel like menstrual cramps for the last week, only one day were they really bothersome though. I told my doctor (when I went in last Tuesday to get antiobiotics for my UTI) that I had started to bleed a little & wasn't sure if it was due to the UTI or my period (I was due to be on my period anyway) but he thought it was just my period. It's been so on & off though & the blood is really bright red so that concerns me a little. Also, I see this blood sometimes if I am having to strain to have a bowel movement. I don't know if these symptoms are normal or not & I am hoping my body has just not yet adjusted completely to the Mirena. Like I said I am not in any major pain or anything. One more thing, I have not yet checked my strings, but my doctor just did it 6 days ago, so I'm a little nervous about not feeling the strings because I got them trimmed up & I have very short fingers. Sorry if this is kind of "babbely." Anyway, any advice or personal Mirena stories would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

If your body were rejecting the mirena you'd know it. Trust me. I bled, cramped, and was down and out every afternoon with pain. I went back to get pain killers and they told me it was normal but they wouldn't give me pain killers in case something not normal happened. Finally after laying around in bed for 3 weeks in pain they agreed to give me pain killers if I had an ultrasound to be sure it was in the correct place. Ultrasound said it was perfect. 2 days later it was jammed in my cervix because my body finally managed to push it out and my regular doctor pulled it out. That was the end of my mirena experience.

Yea, like I said I'm not having any major pain. Absolutely nothing that is slowing me down & I honestly feeling completely fine with I am working out. I'm probably just focusing & worrying about it too much while sitting around. I'm feeling just fine today. I'm sure my body is still just trying to adjust to it, after all I've just had it a little over a month. Thanks for the input!
