What are the chances of getting pregnant if your tubes are tied AND you take bc?

    Hi,

I had my tubes tied about 7 years ago after 4 kids. I always had amenorrhea and irregular periods, tried to use NFP (I'm Catholic) but never had a single fertility sign, and still ended up pregnant with #4. In desperation I got my tubes tied, and then because I still had amenorrhea I started taking Sprin-tec about 3 years ago. I have never really been good at taking at it, like I'd take it at all different times of the day, but it least made me regular.

Well, the last month I've actually been taking it at the same time every day, give or take half an hour. Normally, I get brown discharge for a few days and then the breakthrough bleeding of the fake period of Sprin-tec starts about a day early. This month (this week), nothing at all. I can't imagine how I could be pregnant, as I only had sex once three weeks ago and then again one week ago, and you don't even ovulate on Sprin-tec, but this is really odd and I was always extraordinarily fertile even with the difficult periods. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative and I've never had one be wrong, but I CAN'T be pregnant right now, so I'm freaking out--I would be fired for sure if I got pregnant.

What are the chances you can get pregnant if you tubes are tied (not cut) and you take the pill?

P.S.--Going to the doctor is not an option--just started new job, employer made sure to ask whether I had health problems, so I can't take an hour off to run to the doctor or he'd wonder. Plus, no insurance.

Like .0000000000000000001%. As in it isn't gonna happen without an act of god or the worst luck in the world. My husband has a vasectomy and I'm on birth control for hormones and I told him we are becoming religious if I get pregnant even if I miss pills since the odds are so low. Odds are your body is just doing something weird with your period for some reason. Every now and then my body decides to not listen to my bcp and do what it wants.

Agreed. You'd probably have a better chances winning the lottery.

It is almost impossible to get pregnant when your tubes are tied. It doesn't matter if they where cut or not. I had a tubal ligation, when I was only 22 years old, and my tubes aren't cut. either. They are blocked with rings. My hubby and I never use protection, he always ejaculates inside me, and I've had the procedure done over 10 years ago with no problems. I've always had irregular periods. Some months I even miss a cycle or just get some spotting. Don't worry. Your chance of pregnancy is like o.1%.
