Want to stop taking BCP for a bit

I'll try to make a long story short.

About a month ago, I took the Morning After Pill twice within the same week. This screwed up my period a bit and I ended up getting it about two weeks later than usual.

Then, when I finally DID get my period, I started taking birth control (Lo Loestrin Fe) because nothing says "You should be on the pill" more than having to take the Morning After Pill twice in one week.

Nevermind that I've been experiencing enough symptoms to not want to be on BCP anymore (weight gain and mood swings) but I just got my period, again. I last had it on Jan 31st, and now I have it today on Feb 18th, which to be fair, is when I normally get it, but thanks to the Morning After Pill, I'm basically experiencing two periods in one month. Hooray.

I'm definitely interested in looking into a different BCP to take at least, because I am a very calm and low-key person but LoLoFe is making me a lot more emotional, for little to no reason. I've gained about 5-10 pounds so far and my boobs, already a 36D, got bigger. No bueno on all accounts. I figured I should take a break and let my cycle regulate itself again since it has basically been put through a roller coaster for the last couple months with me getting on BC immediately after taking the Morning After pill.

When you stop taking BC, do you literally just stop taking the pill? I have about a week's worth leftover, including the placebo pills. Should I just finish out my supply?

It concerns me, as it seems to you also, that you were using the Morning After Pill, instead of other BC. Condoms could have prevented having to use the Morn Aft Pill all together, well at least 98 % prevention.

Going on the BC Pill is a great idea, Starting and Stopping isn't. If you aren't liking the Side effects of the one you are taking, ask your Dr to prescribe another one, ask about adding it after the placebo's in this pack.

As with most pills and other Medications, there can be Side Effects, some come on right away and others take time to Develop. Some will actually fade ( the side effects) once your body gets used to the Pills.

There is also Depo~vera injections, Nor Plant, UID, Nuva Ring and Female Condoms and Spermacide to consider .
The important thing is to stay protected, whether on BC or Not . I would NOT just stop and use no Protection, because then you are back to using the Morn After Pill, every time you have unprotected Sex.Which can mess up your Cycle even more .

Talk with your Dr. about this... Wanting to find BC that has less Side effects and still being protected while transitioning.

Until you are on a Regular BC, use Condoms every Time !!!
If Boyfriend/ SO doesn't like them, then just say No Intercourse without them .. If he doesn't care enough about your Health, the Side Effects and preventing a Pregnancy, then I'd question his Valuing You and whats Healthy for you. It is Not Only Your Responsibility to protect against Pregnancy, it's his too .

It sounds like you are Mature and do not want kids right now, You've only been on the Pill a short time, give it a chance to work or another form of BC .

Good luck and Welcome to the Forum

Switching pills might solve the problem but if you want to stop taking it altogether just finish the pack out. If you stop now you'll get a 3rd period this month so you might as well take the last week of pills and put it off. You don't want to end up with anemia or something from blood loss.

If you stop your pills, you should use extra precautions (such as condoms) and continue them for seven days after restarting pills. Because, it will take about seven days to regain full protection from restart.
