Been Horrible With Taking Birth Control On Time?

This month I've really been horrible with taking my BC pills (tri-cyclen 28) on time. I have not been sexually active for a few months but may be soon. I have 8 more active pills left then placebo pills and I was curious if I take the remaining on time and the new pack on time will that protect me at all from pregnancy? I'd also make sure he wears protection as well.

    Thanks

And hopefully I'm posting this in the correct place, I just joined.

Starting to take the remaining 8 pills will be positive in helping you make a new habit, but you will likely only get the full benefit of BC protection when you get 1-2 weeks into the new pack. You should check the official literature for Tri-Cyclen, which if you don't still have the paperwork it came with, should be available online. Whenever it says you'd be protected after starting the pill for the first time, that's how long you'll have to be taking the new pack. Many pills aren't at their full effectiveness until you've used them correctly for a full cycle, so tread lightly.

Having your (new?) partner use barrier protection is for the best, at least until you get a month of proper pill-taking under your belt. Be flexible and have some condoms in brands that you trust available in various sizes for him to try out.

For the future, set an alarm for a certain time to take it and then you'll get routinely into it and not have to keep setting reminders. That's what I had to do
