I've recently started taking YAZ, and it's been a real living hell for me. I'm only at my 10th pill. Doctor told me to take it from the 1st day of period and I did. (This is my first time taking birth control pill and I'm 23)

1. MOOD SWING
I usually suffer from mood swings in the beginning on my period, and it usually goes away from the 3rd day. However, my both mood swing and period are continuing for 10 days and counting. Everything is normal and there is no changes in my life so far; but I'm so depressed for 24/7 and small emotional things are making me cry everyday for past 10 days .

2.BLEEDING
I thought my period would stop at 4th day as usual, but there's always been a small bleeding until now everyday!!! It's scary!!!

3.I can feel my liver is dying.
I take my pill everyday after dinner at 8. Every morning when I wake up, my stomach feels like if I spent the whole previous night puking my stomach inside out like after getting too drunk.

4. Decreased libido
The point of taking this pill was to enjoy the sex without worrying about getting pregnant. But there is ZERO mood to have intercourse now.

5.RASHES
Some small rashes appeared on my cheek, arm and leg few days ago. It itches like crazy. I have to scratch my leg while I'm walking, that's how itchy it is!

6. YOU CAN DIE!
I just googled it and found out that 23 women died because of this pill just few weeks ago!!!

You might be thinking why doesnt she just go to her doc. I did and he said this is all normal. After all doctor is just an another salesman.I dont think I can trust him. I'm looking for a better doc now.

My questions are:

Whether is it normal to have these side effects?

what are the best recommended birth control pills?

P.S after I read my post I feel like I might be suffering from anxiety too. Lol

I am sorry to say, these side effects are normal for some women. Me included. But don't let the word "normal" fool you into thinking that you have to deal with it by any means!!

I was on Leostein 24 Fe and Mircogestin Fe. It was awful! I was depressed, anxious that my amazing boyfriend was leaving me, I had no sex drive, could not get wet at all (ouch!), and I would cry non-stop for no reason (in public I might add).

I was on those different kinds of birth control for about 2 months each. Went to the doctor and told her my problems and she set me up with Ortho Cyclen. I honestly have had no problem with this pill except I did gain 2-3 lbs. But that is nothing compared to crying in Walmart about nothing.

I'd say find a new doctor if yours wont listen and talk them through everything you are dealing with. You will eventually find some method that agrees with your body. I understand what you are going completely and hope you find your "pill match" soon!

Hi... I'm 21 and just started taking birth control 6 months ago... I'm on Aviane.

I'm sorry you're having such terrible symptoms with Yaz, and I hope it gets better for you (they say it takes 1-3 months for your body to get used to the pill). When I first started taking the pill I was so worried after reading all the side effects one could possibly have, but I guess I lucked out because I had none of them with Aviane. Only thing that comes to mind that happened in the earlier days was a slightly decreased libido and dryness (it became harder than usual to get wet). But thankfully that quickly passed.

So... yeah. I can't say that Aviane's the best, as I've also read about other women having horrible symptoms with it ... but so far, it's worked very nicely for me.
