    Nuvaring Help

    Hello!

This is an odd question, and will sound stupid, but I really need the help. Essentially, my fiance and I had sex recently. I have been on the ring for two months now with everything going well. Without going into detail, we need to know soon if we are pregnant. I know it's stupid to be so scared of pregnancy when on birth control, but we made a mistake, and if we are preggers, it would suck. My question is: if i take my ring out mid way through my cycle (two week left), will I get (or not get) my period sooner, thus "knowing" if i am pregnant or not? Please no snarky comments. I know it's stupid, but I need help. Thank you

Not sure if I understand what you mean by making a mistake--you mean by having sex or do you mean that you have used the ring in the wrong way?

I would certainly leave the ring in until you're supposed to take it out. Sperm can lie for several days and if you take it out halfway through your cycle there is a chance you'll ovulate.

The act of sex was a mistake, I have use the Nuvaring exactly how it is intended to be used. Essentially, my community would scorn me if they knew I was pregnant before oficially being married in two months. It is not he act of sex that scared me, but the oh so slight possibility of being pregnant that was terrifying. Two weeks i a long time to wait in uncertainty which is why I was asking if it is possibly to essentially make my period come faster hence knowing.

OK, just leave it in until the usual time to take it out. That's the safest thing to do. Try not to worry--as long as you use it correctly, the ring is extremely effective.
