discontinuation of femulen...running out of options

I am a migraine with aura sufferer with absolutely no intention of ever birthing a small person. I have tried the copper coil, and very painfully discovered it is not for me.
No doctor will prescribe me a combination pill or refer me for sterilization.
The only thing that worked for me was the progestin only pill called femulen...all the others, micronor, noriday, norgeston, cerazette give me much worse and more regular migraines ( I never had a single migraine in 5 years on femulen) but the manufacturer discontinued the product and I'm left having to take a pill that messes up my skin and gives me migraines.....(I made an amazing discovery of two months worth of femulen...switched back to use them up and hey presto, no spots, no migraines.
I'm dreading two weeks time when I have to go back on norgeston....the migraines get in the way of my work...

The only other options are barrier (doc wont allow injection or implant due to progestin incurred migraines but says as long as I xan tolerate migraine on this pill, that's fine)

SO doesn't like barrier methods so discourages me strongly from coming off hormonal contraception and he will not consider having the snip.

Argh!!!!! Why did they have to stop making femulen!!!

Are you fine without hormonal birth control? There are more barrier type items than things like condoms. Many that your partner is unlikely to notice. You can get a cervical cap fitted, diaphragm, vcf, sponge, straight spermicide... Have you asked about a nuvaring, implanon, or depo shot?

I cannot have depo, nuvaring or implanon because they are highly likely to give migraines too ( I did ask my dr). My significant other does not want to use barrier methods as they are not as effective as hormones and we 110% don't want a child. Personally I'd feel a billion dollars without hormonal contraception and can't wait until I can convince my dr to refer me for sterilisation ,but my partner believes I am making up the symptoms I get from these pills and that I should just get on with taking pills like most other women do, regardless of how infrequent sex is . I will look up cervical caps and diaphragms as I'm not too familiar with those but they sound tricky....

Condoms are plenty effective. I figured you just didn't want to use them for the sensation that is lost. My first partner and I were quite paranoid. We had condoms, vcf, and continued it even when I got on pills. That really isn't required. If the condom is stored properly and the expiration date checked then very very few people get pregnant. Depending what website you look at the cap and diaphragm are either slightly above or slightly below the effectiveness of a condom. It might depend on some other factors like using spermicide with them or they could just be using different typical use numbers. All methods of birth control have a perfect use and a typical use number since humans just aren't perfect. I'm finding that spermicide just by itself, which can be vcf, a sponge, or simple cream/gel, is about 85% effective. That doesn't mean you have a 15% chance of pregnancy every time you have sex with it. It means that out of 100 couples having sex for 1 year 15 will get pregnant. Combine it with something and you have a quite safe birth control. I know just as many people who have gotten pregnant on the pill. One of my friends was on the pill starting in junior high. She got pregnant 3 times from 8th grade to graduation with 1 adopted out, 1 pregnancy terminated, and kept the last one.

I'm not sure why doctors are willing to sterilize men and not women. My husband had a vasectomy as soon as it was obvious we were going to be together for awhile. I can't stop taking pills anyway. I go in to all sorts of hormonal issues and have horrible weight gain, acne, dandruff, cysts the size of golfballs... basically the opposite of everyone else who has those symptoms while on pills. lol

Ugh more dizzy spells, dull headache and two new spots today.....
Yeah I looked up caps etc.they look way too complicated.

Just tried to discuss with my partner again and he said he won't get sterilised and 'for obvious reasons' he doesn't want me to stop taking the pill. Good job we can discuss this like adults...

Vasectomy is quite easily reversed anyway but there is no convincing him.

4 gigantic painful spots have emerged on my face no fair!!! And I've had a dull headache for a week. I really dislike hormones....at least this month there has been some activity to warrant taking the pill...unlike the last few months of suffering for nothing.
