I am ******. I took Trinessa ******ly. Help.

I shall credit this to typical teenage negligence.

I am 17 and have just been put on Trinessa to accompany my Accutane and prevent the whole weird-headed baby thing.

The problem is that my pharmacist (who is going to because of this) simply forgot to give me the patient information booklet/sheet/whatever/thing that tells you WHEN to start taking the pills, etc. Thus, I started with a little white Tuesday pill and kept taking them everyday at 9 PM until one day I suddenly realized, "Hey! I've been on my period for 15 days straight!" (I now realize, thanks to research, that there is a specific time of the month to take these pills. by the time i realized this, it was...well...wayyy too late)

By 15-day-period, I do not mean that I have been browning or spotting or anything like that. I mean I have been on a steady, elongated monster-edit er-period that started light, got heavier, got a lot heavier, and then slowly went back to light again. Luckily, I appear to be almost done with it.

Which leaves me with a question: What now? Should I start over with the pills and do them RIGHT this time? Should I keep going? Should I wait until my cycle gets normal again before retaking the pills? Should I run down to Walgreens Pharmacy right now with an AK-47 and start shooting people?

Please help. And don't laugh at me. I'm serious, folks. My little brother already wrote a song about my incredibly lengthy period that he oh-so-aptly titled, "It Sucks to be You." (<--it's quite catchy, actually) I am now PAINFULLY aware of the dangers of not researching the medications I take BEFORE I do something edit with them.

Call your doctor, speak to him or his nurse about it.

I really don't think it matters when you start taking it, it will just take time for your body to adjust to it - hence the 15 days. Just stay on schedule with it and start the next pack as soon as you normally would.

I don't think it matters when you start because back when I had my second son when I went back for my 4 week check up I had not had my first regular period yet as I was still bleeding from the birth or my son. My doctor had me go ahead and start my birth control pills then, he told me my body would adjust to it. I really don't know if this is a common practice or not but as I said I would call your doctor just to make sure everything is ok.
There is a method to my madness ........ I just haven't found it yet.

Thanks. I haven't been able to get in touch with my doctor because it was Christmas, but I did talk to a pharmacist who treated me like it was MY fault I didn't get the right information and then set me on the right track and told me to start the Sunday after my period. So I did just that. Then my period started again, so now I'm deffinately contacting my doctor

Its the Sunday OF your period that you begin the pills. That had me confused in the past, too.

If your period starts on Saturday, you start the pill the next day at whatever time, and then just try to be consistent with that time (within an hour), like you were doing before.

If your period starts on Wednesday, you still start that Sunday. If your period starts on Sunday, you take it that day. If your period starts on Monday and is almost gone by Sunday, you still take it Sunday.

The thing is that it kind of screws up that first period by maybe stretching it out a while, while the hormones regulate. The first three months of taking any bc pill, anything can happen from random spotting to more frequent periods. After three months, you should be on an even track.

We all screw up our bc pills now and then. If you're having sex and they get screwed up, or you miss more than two pills in a row, make sure you use a condom.

You sound like a more than responsible teenager to me. You actually called the doctor and the pharmacist all by yourself... that was very mature. You always have to stick up for your health. You are your own best advocate.
