    mirena, IUD insertion cramps.

Hi everyone! I just had the mirena iud insertion yesterday. I was expecting period cramps... however I have pain inside my vagina, not period cramping kind of pain. How long is this vaginal pain going to last?

    Welcome to the forum, JR.

While the women on the forum are considering their replies at length, as a guy I'll jump in and offer you a lead to a related recent thread:

I spoke there of my wife's experience. Like you, she had quite a bit of initial pain, but it fairly soon subsided and she has been happy ever since. Not everyone is the same.

If you use the forum "search" feature, simply using "Mirena" as the search term, you'll find other threads that might help.

I hope you'll soon have no more pain and all will be well.

Until 5 mins from now, forever, or anywhere in between. It's completely unpredictable. Some have pain for an hour, some for a day, some for a week, some for a month, some for several months, some for years.. Although if it's bad pain most have it removed in weeks or months. Which is another thing. Some have indescribable pain, some have annoying irritation, and some never notice it was put in. Seeing a pattern yet? Like I said completely unpredictable. Decide your own limits because no one can tell you what will happen with it tomorrow.

Unfortunately, you'll probably just have to wait it out. It sucks, I know!

My IUD took about 4 days for the intense cramping to stop. I've noticed that when I get dehydrated I get slight cramps every now and then.

I would give it 2 weeks. If it doesn't stop, call your doctor!
