The best advice I was ever given by my doctor is each brand of BC will react differently to every woman. If YAZ is not working for you then discontinue it and try another brand. Its all a process of trial and error. What one brand works for one woman might not work well for another. If you want something similar to YAZ, try Yasmin like earlier suggested. I'm actually a user of that brand and have been so for the past year, and experiencing no real problems except PMS a week before my period (common I know).

Don't think you're doing anything wrong Its probably the dosage of hormones in YAZ that is effecting your body negatively. Good luck with your search for the right one. Do try to stay away from Ortho Tri type BC though (the ones that vary in hormone dosage in every pill). I've heard nothing but bad news... people go mental on that stuff.

Well, the original post is from April, so I've long since given up on Yaz. Upon talking to my doctor about it later, she says it's the only BC that women say they feel "crazy" when they're taking.
What my body needed was a triphasic pill, so that's what I'm taking now. I took Ortho TriCyclen Lo for a few months, but it wasn't doing the trick for menstrual cramps, so I switched to regular Ortho TriCyclen. It's got a $9 generic, and it's never given me any troubles. It started relieving my cramps from day one.
The only time I felt "mental" at all on the Ortho Tri pills was when I was on Lo and it was placebo week. My PMS really got out of hand, but it was already out of hand before the pills. That hasn't happened with the regular pills; my PMS is practically gone and so are my cramps.

Ahh... your right. I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention to when this thread was posted. I'm glad that worked out for you though, I've had at least 4/5 friends on that brand and they experienced the worse side-effects ever! Thanks for replying and updating on this situation though its nice knowing that Tri could still possibly be good for some woman. I'll be sure to keep that in mind.

I have been on yaz for a while now and im debating about switching to a different type of pill...I am experiencing vaginal dryness and I have never had this before, and for some reason my period does not come on the placebo pills, it starts on the first day of the new pack...does birth control usually cause dryness?
